APIYO Flags Alleged Security Lapses Over Unlicensed Businesses in Dokum Colony

Itanagar: Taro Sonam Liyak, President of the Arunachal Pradesh Indigenous Youth Organisation (APIYO), has raised serious concerns over reports that some individuals from Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir are allegedly running businesses in Dokum Colony of the Capital Region without possessing valid licenses.

Addressing the issue, Liyak stated that if the reports are accurate, they point towards significant lapses on the part of the concerned departments as well as local administrative guardians responsible for verification and monitoring. He stressed that unchecked commercial activities by outsiders without proper documentation could pose administrative as well as security challenges.

Referring to the recent arrest of two persons from Kupwara in Itanagar on espionage-related charges, who were reportedly accused of working for Pakistan-based handlers, Liyak described the incident as a matter of grave national security concern. He said such developments further underline the need for strict vigilance and systematic verification mechanisms.

The APIYO president urged the state administration to conduct immediate document verification drives, take stringent action against any illegal activities found, and ensure accountability of officials responsible for oversight failures. He emphasized that safeguarding the interests and security of indigenous communities must remain a top priority.
