J&K Police Head Constable Dies After Collapsing During Training at SKPA.

Udhampur, July 4: Jammu and Kashmir Police Head Constable Bashir Anjum, a resident of Gursai in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district, died after reportedly collapsing during a training session at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), Udhampur, on Saturday.

According to official sources, the Head Constable suddenly fell unconscious while attending the training programme. He was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Police have initiated the necessary legal proceedings and are verifying the exact cause of death. Officials said further investigation is underway, and the cause of death will be confirmed after the completion of medico-legal formalities.

The untimely demise of Head Constable Bashir Anjum has left the police fraternity and residents of his native village in deep mourning. Condolences have poured in from colleagues, friends, and members of the local community, who remembered him as a dedicated and sincere police officer.

Sopore Police Detain Five Notorious Drug Peddlers Under PIT-NDPS Act; Lodged in Jammu Prisons

Sopore, June 24, 2026:

In a major action against the narcotics ecosystem under the ongoing *Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan,* Sopore Police have *detained five notorious drug peddlers under the provisions of the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act* and lodged them in jails outside Kashmir Valley.

*The detenues have been identified as:*

1. Adil Ahmad Buda S/O Mohammad Shafi Buda R/O Shair Colony, Sopore – lodged in District Jail Bhadarwah.
2. Mohammad Ramzan Gojri S/O Jalal-ud-Din Gojri R/O Hygam – lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
3. Suhail Ahmad Zargar S/O Bashir Ahmad Zargar R/O Behrampora, Rafiabad – lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
4. Majid Ashraf Khan S/O Mohammad Ashraf Khan R/O Peth Seer, Sopore – lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
5. Nasir Yousuf Shah @ Bada Aanta S/O Mohammad Yousuf Shah R/O Neharpora, Sopore – lodged in District Jail Bhadarwah.

The detained individuals were *repeatedly involved in narcotics-related activities* and had figured in multiple NDPS cases. Despite previous legal action, they continued to engage in drug peddling and posed a serious threat to society, particularly the youth.

Based on their criminal history and continued involvement in drug trafficking, detailed dossiers were prepared by Sopore Police and submitted to the competent authority, which subsequently issued detention orders under the PIT-NDPS Act.

The action forms part of Sopore Police’s sustained strategy to dismantle the narcotics ecosystem by targeting habitual drug peddlers and preventing them from continuing their illegal activities.

*With these five detentions, Sopore Police has so far booked 13 repeat drug offenders under the PIT-NDPS Act during the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.*

Sopore Police has *also identified 17 more repeat offenders involved in drug trafficking,* whose dossiers are presently under preparation for similar action under the PIT-NDPS Act.

Sopore Police reiterates its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and substance abuse and remains committed to taking stringent legal and preventive action against all those involved in the narcotics trade.

The action is part of the ongoing efforts under the *Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan* to safeguard the youth and build a healthier, safer and drug-free society.

Doda Police Arrested Drug Peddler; 85 Grams of Charas-like Substance Recovered Under Nasha Mukt JK Abhiyan*

Doda, June 23, 2026:

Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking and substance abuse under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Doda Police achieved another significant success by apprehending a drug peddler and recovering 85 grams of charas-like substance from his possession.

A police team of Police Post Pul Doda, led by I/C Police Post Pul Doda under the leadership of SHO Police Station Doda, was conducting routine checking and patrolling at Chinar Morh, Pul Doda, when one individual, namely Nimpal Kumar S/O Govind Singh R/O Sewat, Seot, Tehsil Marmat, District Doda, was intercepted and subjected to a search.

During the search, 85 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.

Accordingly, the accused was arrested and a case FIR No. 165/2026 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Doda. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the backward and forward linkages of the accused and to identify other persons involved in the drug trafficking network, if any.

Doda Police remains committed to its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and substance abuse and urges members of the public to cooperate with the police by sharing information regarding drug-related activities so that a safer and drug-free society can be ensured.
