Success Story – HADP (50 Ewes(
Mr. Firdous Ahmad Najar, a post–graduate from Jaggepora, Kupwara, stands as a shining example of educated youth turning towards livestock entrepreneurship under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP). With the establishment of a 50 Ewes Unit, Firdous not only utilized his academic knowledge in scientific management of sheep rearing but also demonstrated how educated unemployed youth can generate sustainable livelihood in the sheep husbandry sector.
His unit has shown encouraging results within a short span of time, providing him with a stable income and creating employment opportunities for others as well. Firdous Ahmad’s success story is inspiring many other educated youth of Kupwara to take up sheep farming as a viable career option under various departmental schemes.

“Under the ongoing SEWA PARV , Sheep Development Officer Handwara, Dr. Bilal Sir and Dr. Parvaiz sb (VAS HANDWARA ) delivered an awareness programme for sheep farmers. During the session, farmers were sensitized about departmental schemes, scientific sheep rearing practices, healthcare management, and benefits of adopting improved technologies for better productivity and income generation.

The District Sheep Husbandry Organisation Kupwara today organized a series of activities across various SDBs of the district under the ongoing SEWA PARV celebrations.
The programme included:
Cleanliness drives at offices, and community locations.
Awareness campaigns regarding various departmental schemes and welfare initiatives for sheep breeders.

Interaction sessions with farmers and breeders to highlight the benefits of scientific sheep rearing and government support available under different schemes.
The activities witnessed enthusiastic participation from officers, officials, and local sheep breeders. The initiative aimed at spreading awareness, strengthening community engagement, and promoting the spirit of service and development under SEWA PARV.

ADVERTISEMENT NOTICE

In order to ensure enhanced transparency and streamlining of the application process for availing benefit under Integrated Sheep Development Scheme (ISDS 10 Ewes PP Mode, ISDS 20 Ewes 50% subsidy Mode & ISDS Shearing Unit), the application process which was previously conducted through offline mode, has been shifted to online mode and stands integrated into the “Kisan Sathi portal” by the department. In this connection, al the unemployed youth / sheep breeders of the district desirous to avail benefit under Integrated Sheep Development Scheme are hereby informed to apply online on the said portal. For any query and assistance, the applicants can contact District Sheep Husbandry Office Kupwara / Sheep & Wool Development Officer Karnah / Handwara and Veterinary Assistant Surgeons of their respective areas.
