If the Nigerian government is truly serious, then all Muslim personnelโ€”especially those of Fulani originโ€”should be withdrawn from the fight against insurgents. It is common knowledge that many of these insurgents are Fulani and Muslim, and there is a high risk that those within the military may be protecting their own.

This idea of granting forgiveness simply because insurgents have "surrendered" is nothing short of insanity. These are individuals who are often rootless, brutal, and mercilessโ€”yet they are now being pardoned and, to make matters worse, recruited into the military. Isn't this effectively giving them access to sensitive information to pass on to their comrades? Or does the government naively believe that theyโ€™ll simply betray and kill their former allies?

This is exactly why many Nigerians would rather serve in the US or UK military than join the Nigerian Army, which is plagued by tribalism and religious bias.

I couldn't help but laugh when Governor Sanwo-Olu urged southern youths to join the Nigerian Army. Do they really think we lack understanding, especially in the face of all these glaring factsโ€”while their own children are safely abroad, receiving quality education?

We are already in a dire situation, but as for me, I would never approve of my son joining this farce called an Army. No wonder soldiers are being bombed in Bornoโ€”itโ€™s absurd to hear that insurgents could storm a military formation and carry out an operation successfully.

Nigeria... Hmmmm.

The Rent Is Too High!

Whether itโ€™s for one month, 12 months, or 36 months, the main issue is the cost of rentโ€”not just the duration. Weโ€™re not even complaining about paying for two years upfront. The real burden lies in the rent itself, along with additional charges like agreement and commission fees. What makes it worse is that many landlords collect these fees themselves, yet still evict tenants before two years under flimsy excuses.

Paying rent monthly or quarterly might be convenient for salary earners, but not everyone earns regularly. Some people may go four months without steady income. The key point is this: reduce the rent!

Itโ€™s also surprising that the government isnโ€™t stepping in by building houses specifically for rent. Doing so would not only reduce rent prices but also create jobsโ€”caretakers could be employed to manage these properties. Since the houses would remain government-owned, any tenant who misbehaves could be easily evicted without drama. This would bring order to the housing sector.

If nothing is done, landlords in places like Lagos will continue demanding two years' rent for a single monthโ€™s use. The truth is, it's just a monthโ€”so why pay for two years? The big question remains: who controls the rent?

Lagos State Govt Urges Residents to Report Landlords Demanding Over One Yearโ€™s Rent.

The Lagos State Government has called on residents to report landlords or agents demanding more than one yearโ€™s rent in advance, signaling a renewed push to enforce tenancy laws and protect tenants from exploitative practices.

My own take: What's the benefit of paying one year's rent upfront when prices are skyrocketing? Some landlords are charging two years' rent as one year's rent, making it unsustainable. Lagosians need affordable rent, not just flexible payment terms. Whether it's one year or three months, exorbitant rent remains a burden. The focus should be on reducing rent prices rather than just adjusting payment schedules.

What We Do for Ourselves Dies with Us, But What We Do for Others Lives On

Many people live only to satisfy themselvesโ€”pursuing wealth, comfort, and personal ambition. But at the end of life, all we gathered for ourselves remains behind. The houses we built, the clothes we wore, the meals we enjoyedโ€”they all perish with us.

However, the things we do for othersโ€”whether good or badโ€”continue to live long after we are gone. A kind word spoken, a child helped through school, a family supported in time of need, a soul led to Christโ€”these live on in the hearts of people, shaping destinies, and echoing through generations.

On the other hand, when we wrong others, cause pain, cheat, or abandon those who looked to us for help, the effects also outlive us. Bitterness, broken homes, and shattered dreams may be the legacy we leave if we live selfishly or carelessly.

So choose to live intentionally. Sow seeds of kindness, give selflessly, serve faithfully, and love genuinely. Because what we do for ourselves may be forgotten, but what we do to othersโ€”rightly or wronglyโ€”becomes our true legacy.

Tension Rises As Fulani Communities Face Attacks In West Africa

Tensions are reaching a boiling point in West Africa as attacks against Fulani communities in Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger escalate, leading to mass displacement and deepening ethnic divides.

Reports indicate that government-backed militias in Burkina Faso have been involved in deadly assaults on Fulani civilians, though authorities have strongly denied any involvement.

Nevertheless, the situation continues to deteriorate as ethnic and security conflicts spiral out of control.

In Mali and Niger, Fulani populations are increasingly becoming targets of retaliation due to their perceived connections with armed groups operating in the region.

While some Fulani individuals have indeed joined extremist factions, entire communities now face suspicion, forced evictions, and violent reprisals.

Many have been driven from their homes as local militias and civilian groups take matters into their own hands, intensifying the crisis.

As instability worsens, fears are growing that the conflict could spread beyond these nations, affecting Nigeria, Sudan, and Cameroon.
