Today marks the 18th day of Sonam Wangchuk's hunger strike at Jantar Mantar.

For the past 18 days, the nation has been listening, but those in power have remained silent.

If the government cannot respond to the voices of students and the public, accountability must be ensured. The minister concerned no longer has the moral authority to continue in office and should resign.

If Sonam Wangchuk's health suffers serious harm or any unfortunate incident occurs during this prolonged hunger strike, the moral and political responsibility will rest with the Central Government. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government and the concerned ministry will have to explain to the nation why a peaceful democratic protest was ignored for 18 days.

In a democracy, dialogue—not silence—is the path to a solution.

Delhi: Abhijeet Dipke met Chandrashekhar Azad at his residence on Tuesday to seek support. Dipke, leader of the Cockroach Janata Party, has been leading an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar for the past 17 days along with several protesters, including Sonam Wangchuk. Chandrashekhar Azad is expected to visit Jantar Mantar today in support of the protest.

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: A bulldozer drive is underway in Mavaiya (Alambagh) to remove alleged illegal shops and shanties built on railway land. A joint team of RPF, GRP, and the Municipal Corporation is carrying out the demolition after authorities said repeated notices were ignored. She is accused of posing as an IAS officer and marrying a man named Abhishek Kumar by allegedly deceiving him. According to the allegations, she used fake photos and videos on social media to convince people that she was a civil servant.

After the marriage, she allegedly attempted to strangle her husband, threatened his family, demanded ₹4 million (40 lakh), and pressured them to sell 20 bighas of land to fund the opening of a hospital.

Investigators further allege that Sadhna, a B.Sc. graduate preparing for government job exams, fabricated the identity of an IAS officer as part of the alleged fraud.

Bangladesh Floods: Heavy Rains Trigger Widespread Devastation

Relentless torrential rainfall and water flowing from upstream regions have caused the Khowai River to overflow in Bangladesh's Habiganj district. After the river embankment breached, several villages were inundated, leaving thousands of people stranded.

According to local media reports, floods and landslides have claimed the lives of more than 50 people across the country over the past two days. In Habiganj district alone, nearly 30,000 people have been affected, while rescue and relief operations are underway.

Nainital, Uttarakhand: Chaos erupted in the Kainchi Dham area after five youths travelling in a Scorpio SUV bearing Lucknow registration UP32 AR 0095 allegedly assaulted a homestay operator following an argument.

When police arrived, the accused fled the scene. During the chase, their Scorpio allegedly rammed three vehicles in succession on the Kainchi–Bhowali road, injuring a woman. Police eventually caught all five youths and took them to the local police outpost for further action.
