On the holy and auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja, Chairman of SIMFED, Shri Tenzing Dorjee Bhutia, attended the celebration held at Shri Thakurbari Temple, Gangtok.

The event witnessed a large gathering of devotees offering prayers to the setting sun with immense faith and devotion. Shri Bhutia, while expressing his experience, shared that though he belongs to the Bhutia community, he firmly believes that every festival — irrespective of religion or culture — carries the universal message of faith, purity, and unity.

He extended his heartfelt greetings to everyone celebrating Chhath Puja, wishing that the blessings of Surya Dev bring light, prosperity, and happiness to all.

Chhath puja celebration is very pious in Sikkim and it is believed that whoever prays to Lord Sun and Chhath Mata with dedication all their wishes are granted.

This festival is especially celebrated for children. Those couples who don't have children observe Chhath Vrat for a child and others celebrate Chhath for the happiness and peace of their family and children.

Chairperson Mingma Lhamu Sherpa Inspects Preparations for Bariakhop Senior Secondary School’s Platinum Jubilee

Soreng District | As Bariakhop Senior Secondary School gears up to celebrate its Platinum Jubilee, Smt. Mingma Lhamu Sherpa, Chairperson of the Capacity Building and Skill Development Department, visited the school premises to review the ongoing preparations.

During her visit, Smt. Sherpa interacted with the organizing committee and school staff, appreciating their efforts in making the milestone event a grand success. She also took note of the infrastructural and logistical arrangements being made for the celebration.

The Platinum Jubilee marks 75 years of the school’s service in shaping young minds and contributing to the educational growth of the region. The event is expected to witness participation from alumni, dignitaries, and the local community.

Chief Minister Attends Third Meeting of High-Level Task Force on Tourism in North Eastern Region

Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang-Golay attended the third meeting of the High-Level Task Force on Tourism in the North Eastern Region virtually today from Samman Bhawan.

The meeting was held under the direction of Minister of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Mr Jyotiraditya M. Scindia in the presence of Union Minister for Tourism, Mr Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. The session focused on formulating a comprehensive strategy for the development and promotion of tourism across the North Eastern Region.

To further strengthen regional collaboration, the Ministry of DoNER has constituted a High-Power Committee, comprising four North Eastern states- Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, and Meghalaya as members.
The committee is tasked with developing a coordinated approach to identify opportunities and address challenges in the region’s tourism sector.

During the detailed deliberations, several key aspects of tourism development were discussed, including infrastructure enhancement, sustainable tourism practices, improved connectivity, capacity building, and the promotion of the region’s rich cultural and natural heritage, informed the Chief Minister.

The meeting highlighted the importance of leveraging the North East’s unique assets to create a distinctive tourism identity that attracts both domestic and international visitors while ensuring sustainability and inclusivity.

The committee’s report, containing actionable recommendations and a strategic roadmap for the holistic growth of tourism in the North Eastern Region, will be finalized and submitted soon.

A joint inspection survey team led by Hon'ble Shri Tenzin Norbu Lamtha conducted a survey to resolve the land boundary issue between the school and GREF at Rongneck Sec School Dechiling The team included:
- Hon'ble Zilla Panchayat Shri Lakpa Kagtey
- Hon'ble Pema Lhamu Lamtha Councillor
- GREF Hods
- Forest Department Hods
- Distress Management Department Hods
- School Hods
- Youth Convenor Shri Pem Dorjee Bhutia
- Local people

The survey aimed to clarify and resolve the land boundary dispute, promoting harmony between the school and GREF.

The joint inspection survey team's collaborative effort is a great example of resolving local issues through community engagement.
