Fire Safety Awareness at Lachung Secondary School
As part of the National Fire Service Week 2026, a comprehensive fire safety awareness and live demonstration was conducted today, April 15, at Lachung Secondary School. Led by Sub Fire Officer Rinzing Lama and the team from the Chungthang Fire Station, the program successfully brought together faculty, students, and local residents of Lachung.
Key Program Highlights
The initiative focused on practical, life-saving skills designed to transform bystanders into proactive first responders.
Live Gas Cylinder Demonstration: Participants witnessed first-hand how to safely manage and extinguish a gas cylinder fire. This segment aimed to demystify one of the most common household fire hazards.
Preventative Education: Detailed sessions were held on identifying potential fire risks in both school and home environments.
Emergency Response Training: The team outlined clear protocols for evacuation and the proper use of fire-fighting equipment.
Core Objectives
The program was built around three primary pillars:
Education: Increasing the community's foundational knowledge of fire chemistry and prevention.
Preparedness: Ensuring school staff and students are equipped with actionable safety measures.
Action: Training individuals on how to respond effectively and calmly during the critical first minutes of an emergency.
"The goal is to create a culture of safety where every citizen knows how to handle a fire incident, potentially saving lives and property before professional help arrives." — Chungthang Fire Station
