Tragic Accident Update: Joint Recovery Operation Locates Missing Vehicle and Driver
The search for the Mahindra Bolero Camper and its driver, missing since June 3rd, came to a sorrowful conclusion today, June 5th.
Following critical leads from the Forest Department checkpost CCTV footage—which showed the vehicle heading towards the Rabom area but never returning—a well-coordinated search was launched.
The recovery operation was led effectively by the local administration and emergency forces. The Police Department under the leadership of the SHO Chungthang, alongside the SDM Chungthang , played a crucial role in managing the logistics and search parameters. Working tirelessly on the ground, the NDRF team, local youth,Forest Departmen and the supportive public braved difficult conditions to descend into the gorge.
Tragically, the vehicle and the body of the driver were recovered from the accident site deep below the road. We extend our immense gratitude to the administration, the NDRF, the police personnel, and the local public for their swift and tireless coordination during this difficult mission. Deepest condolences to the bereaved family.
