POV: You found the secret curtain of the Sahyadris.
Nature doesn’t need a filter when it looks like this.
Kumbhe, you have my heart (and all my phone storage). ”
📍 How to Reach
Kumbhe is located in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, near Mangaon.
•By Car (From Mumbai/Pune):
From Mumbai: Take the Mumbai-Goa Highway (NH66) towards Mangaon. From Mangaon, it’s about a 20–25 km drive through scenic village roads.
From Pune: Head via Tamhini Ghat or Varandha Ghat. Tamhini is generally preferred for the views.
By Train: The nearest railway station is Mangaon. From there, you can hire a local auto-rickshaw or a private taxi to take you to Kumbhe village.
• The Trek: Once you reach the village, it’s a short, relatively easy walk (15–20 mins) to reach the waterfall viewpoint.
🗓️ When to Visit
The best time is undoubtedly the Peak Monsoon (July to September).
• July/August: For the heaviest flow and that misty, “lost in the clouds” feeling.
• September/Early October: If you prefer slightly less rain but still want to see the lush greenery and a decent water flow.
🛑 What NOT to Do
• Don’t Litter: This is a pristine eco-zone. If you bring plastic bottles or snack wrappers, take them back with you.
• No Alcohol: Drinking near water bodies is not only disrespectful to locals but incredibly dangerous given the terrain.
• Avoid “Edge” Selfies: The cliff edges around Kumbhe are notorious for being unstable. No photo is worth a fall.
• Don’t Go Alone: Especially during heavy rains, it’s best to have a group or a local guide.
