Police Station Mendhar Attaches Illegally Acquired Assets Worth ₹92 Lakh in NDPS Case
Poonch, June 06: Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking and narcotics-related crimes under the , District Police Poonch has attached illegally acquired assets worth approximately ₹92.43 lakh belonging to an accused involved in a case registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The action was taken against Mohd Taj S/O Mohd Hussain R/O Chak Banola, Mendhar, who is involved in FIR No. 189/2022 registered under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Mendhar.
Acting under the provisions of Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985, Police Station Mendhar attached a three-storey residential house situated at Village Chak Banola, Tehsil Mendhar, valued at approximately ₹82.43 lakh, along with ₹10 lakh lying in the accused's SBI bank account.
The attachment was carried out after investigation revealed that the assets were disproportionate to the known lawful sources of income of the accused and were reasonably believed to have been acquired from proceeds generated through illicit narcotic drug trafficking.
The action has been taken to prevent the transfer, concealment, or disposal of the suspected illegally acquired properties pending forfeiture proceedings before the Competent Authority under the NDPS Act.
District Police Poonch remains committed to taking stringent legal action against drug traffickers and dismantling the financial infrastructure supporting the illegal narcotics trade.
