Green Nest Enterprise, an agriculture supply store aimed at supporting sustainable farming, was inaugurated on November 1 at Arkong Ward, New Market, Mokokchung by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Atsungba Walling.
Proprietor Moanukshi Ao said he took up the venture after the passing of his friend, who previously owned the shop. With the family unable to continue the business, Ao decided to carry forward the initiative, turning the opportunity into a mission to serve farmers.
Ao noted that unlike Dimapur, Mokokchung has only a few agriculture stores, making it essential to improve accessibility for farmers. He said the shop will also procure seeds from local farmers to help promote local production and create a market for them.
District Agriculture Officer (DAO), Dr Lanunochetla, congratulated Ao for his effort and encouraged the youth to take similar initiatives rather than engaging in a blame culture. She added that farmers often travel to Mariani and Assam for basic farming tools and supplies, and the opening of the store will reduce such dependency as Green Nest Enterprise is connected with multiple companies.
Addressing the gathering, ADC Walling highlighted that many traditional farmers still rely on agriculture as their main source of income. He said the shop will be of great help and emphasized the importance of good customer service. “Business is not just about profit; it can be a way to uplift people,” he stated.
The programme was chaired by Rongsennungla Imchen, Deputy Project Director, ATMA Mokokchung. A dedicatory prayer was offered by Pastor Monglier Tzüdir of MTBA.
