2nd Nagaland Masters TT Championship held in Mokokchung

The 2nd Nagaland Masters Table Tennis Championship 2026 was held at the Multipurpose Sports Complex in Mokokchung on September 10 & 11, drawing around 60 veteran players from across the state.

Players in the 40+, 50+ and 60+ age categories from Dimapur, Kohima, Mokokchung, Kiphire, Chümoukedima and Wokha took part in the two-day championship.

The inaugural session was attended by N. Akok Longkumer, president of the NPF Central Youth Wing, as the special guest. The closing ceremony was graced by Tinu Pongen, president of the BJP Mandal for the 26 Aonglenden Assembly Constituency, as special guest.

The championship provided a competitive platform for veteran players while promoting continued participation in table tennis across age groups.

MCCI pushes unified business front across Mokokchung district
The Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) is pushing for greater unity among business organisations across Mokokchung district, calling for a common platform to protect local interests and strengthen the district’s commercial potential.
An 11-member MCCI delegation, led by president Tsükti Longkumer, visited Changtongya and Tuli on September 11 for coordination meetings with the Business Union Changtongya Town (BUCT) and Business Association Tuli (BAT).
MCCI stressed that the chamber should not be viewed as being limited to Mokokchung town, but as a platform representing the wider business community of the district, including Changtongya, Tuli and Mangkolemba.
The meetings discussed challenges such as market competition, outside vendors and the need to strengthen local trade networks. Participants also explored strategies to develop Mokokchung district into a major commercial hub serving neighbouring districts, particularly those in Eastern Nagaland.
Meanwhile, MCCI donated ₹1 lakh towards relief efforts for flood-affected people in Tuli and surrounding areas. The assistance was handed over through Imsenperong Wati, NCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tuli Sub-Division.

Forge Warriors holds first arm-wrestling championship in Mokokchung

The first Arm Wrestling Championship organised by Forge Warriors was held at the Police Ground, Alichen, on Saturday, drawing around 90 participants and an estimated 200 spectators.

The competition featured three weight categories — Lightweight (below 65 kg), Middleweight (65–80 kg) and Heavyweight (80 kg and above).

Anky emerged champion in the Lightweight category, while Moakum won the Middleweight title and Ekongmen claimed the Heavyweight championship. Seliba Thonger, Imlisunep and Toshiakum finished runners-up in the respective categories.

The event also featured a tug-of-war competition, with Lean Wolf Gym emerging winners.

Participants represented various gyms, including Wolf Gym, Mokokchung, 707 Gym and 3B Gym, besides participants from the Alichen area.

Shreemati Kurpreet Gaur, IPS, Chief Assistant Commandant, attended the event as chief guest, representing P. Bendangchuba Jamir, NPS, Commandant, 2nd NAP Alichen.

Forge Warriors organised the championship as part of its initiative to promote arm wrestling and other strength-based sporting activities and provide a platform for local athletes to showcase their abilities.

FirstCry Opens New Outlet in Mokokchung

FirstCry, a baby and kids’ retail brand, has opened a new outlet at Sangtemla Ward, Imnameren Road, Mokokchung, offering products for children, expectant mothers and new mothers.

The outlet was inaugurated by Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) Chairman Imkongchuba, while Imnakumzuk Longkumer, Youth Pastor, Kumlong, conducted the dedicatory prayer.

Owned and operated by Temjenmoa Jamir, proprietor and CEO of Nagaland Minerals and Mines, the outlet currently caters to expectant mothers and children up to five years of age. According to franchise supervisor Asen, the age range may be expanded up to 14 years based on customer demand.

The outlet currently employs four people from Mokokchung town and offers baby and kids’ clothing, toys, footwear, baby-care and nursing products, school supplies and other children-related items.
