The Congress MLA from Laharighat constituency in Morigaon district of Assam, Asif Mohammad Nazar, has not been able to carry out any development work in the constituency in recent times. MLA Asif Mohammad Nazar does not give importance to party workers. He has been misbehaving and insulting veteran as well as new Congress workers and leaders. He remains involved with a few brokers/dalals. He has no popularity in the constituency. 90% of the voters in the constituency are protesting against MLA Asif Mohammad Nazar. They have taken to the streets in protest against him. If the Congress party gives him a ticket, it is certain that he will suffer a disastrous defeat. Currently, MLA Asif Mohammad Nazar has become completely disconnected from the people (gana-bischinna). If the Congress party gives MLA Asif Mohammad Nazar a ticket in the upcoming 2026 Assam Legislative Assembly election, the party will definitely lose this seat.
