What doesn’t seem to understand is this:
It’s not the men’s community that felt hurt by her statement.
When she said “Ek rupiya bhi nahi kamaya,” (He didn’t earn even a single rupee.) she didn’t just upset men, she upset everyone who looked up to her.
Because people don’t just admire champions for their medals. They admire them for their values.
Now, saying “I didn’t mean men, I meant my ex-husband” only makes it worse. It sounds less like clarification and more like damage control.
Either she was faking it back then when she said:
“Without my husband’s support, my career would not have been possible.” (Old Interview) Or she is faking it now with this apology.
Facts don’t disappear with time. Her husband gave up his own career, took responsibility, and stood by her when fame, money, and medals were not guaranteed. That sacrifice didn’t vanish just because the relationship did. This isn’t about gender, this is about gratitude.

Men or women must never forget who stood beside you when you had nothing, when you were nobody, when believing in you required risk.

Thought for the day:

Behind every strong or successful man or woman
is not a shadow but a partner who chose to stand firm.

I don’t know how much of this is true but reading stories like these makes me wonder how many of the people we idolise are actually good? Maybe there are no completely good people. Just different levels of bad… and then there is evil. Maybe it’s only a question of how much darkness we carry inside us, and how much power gives it permission to show. These stories don’t just expose individuals. They expose our obsession with heroes.

We build idols.
We defend them. And when cracks appear, we act shocked
when the truth is, power rarely changes people; it reveals them.

The lesson isn’t to stop believing in goodness, but to stop worshipping people.

Judge actions.
Question power.

And remember morality isn’t proven by fame, money, or influence; it’s revealed when no one is watching.
What do you think, do truly “good” people exist, or only varying shades of grey?

On January 28, 2026, celebrated author and activist Arundhati Roy delivered a powerful speech in Thiruvananthapuram while receiving the Malayattoor Foundation Award for her literary contributions. In her address, she warned of what she described as rising fascist tendencies in parts of India, urging people to actively protect democratic culture, education, and pluralism, especially in Kerala, which she called “one of the last few outposts” resisting such forces. She highlighted concerns over political shifts, including local election results, and urged citizens to defend their freedoms, cultural heritage, and political space rather than take them for granted. Roy also touched on broader global issues, including fears of conflict and the impact of technology on critical thinking. - Courtesy Brut India

When warnings like these are voiced, do we engage, reflect, and debate or do we wait until silence becomes the norm?

This isn’t just a crime. It’s a mirror.

And the uncomfortable question is, What does it say about us as a society? When children commit acts they cannot possibly understand the weight of, it means society failed long before the crime happened.

Failed homes.
Failed schools.
Failed conversations.
Failed adults.

So let’s ask ourselves honestly, Where did we fail to teach empathy? When did we stop talking about boundaries?
Why is education reduced to marks, while values are treated as optional?

Education isn’t just books and exams.
It’s teaching respect, consent, consequences, and humanity early and clearly.

If we only talk about morals after tragedy,
if we only demand punishment but avoid introspection,
if we keep assuming children “will learn on their own” then what exactly are we expecting? This isn’t about gender wars.
It isn’t about politics. It isn’t about picking sides.
It’s about responsibility.
Children don’t grow up in isolation.
They grow up watching us, what we excuse, what we joke about, what we ignore.
So here’s the real question:

What are we teaching them every day, without even realizing it?
Think about it.
Talk about it.
Don’t scroll past it.
Unpaid thought.
Heavy truth.

This page isn’t here to take sides.
It’s here to take notes.
Notes on people.
Notes on systems.
Notes on how the rules change depending on who you are.
I’m not funded.
I’m not affiliated.
I’m not loyal to any ideology, gender, party, or movement.
Just a frustrated citizen asking a simple question again and again:
Why do standards disappear when they’re inconvenient?
If you’re tired of selective outrage, double standards, and scripted opinions — welcome.
No agenda.
No free passes.
Just unpaid thinking.
