An invite from Rashtrapti Bhavan for the G20 Summitt dinner to the Head of States and Ministers sparked controversy upon its headline which states "President of Bharat".
According to the customs and documents the referred name is always 'India'. But the sudden mention of 'Bharat' divided opinions throughout the country.
BJP supporters and pro-government citizens find this move very effective in eradicating Western influence on India. There are confident demands over renaming 'India' as 'Bharat' on social media.
Whereas, the opposition finds it an assault to rename India as 'Bharat'. Arvind Kejriwal asked Modi Govt whether they would rename 'Bharat' again if the opposition union changed its name from 'INDIA' to 'BHARAT'.
Article - 1 of The Constitution of India says "India, that is Bharat, shall be a Union of States". The Constitution assures the country to be referred to as "India" as well as "Bharat". Therefore, if the Constitution has already mentioned the name 'Bharat' as one of the official names, then Why is there any need to rename 'India' as 'Bharat'?
