The first time I visited a rich person’s house, I almost exposed myself immediately 😭

My friend invited me to her house after lectures.

As we entered their compound, I knew instantly that these people were not my mates.

Everything was shining.

Even their gate looked expensive

When we entered sitting room, I became scared to touch anything.

The sofa alone looked like something they imported from heaven

As I sat down gently, one small dog came and sat beside me.

Omo, I shifted immediately.

In my area, dogs are not friendly

But this dog was looking fresh pass me.

My friend now said:
“Awwww he likes you.”

Likes who??? 😂

Then their house help brought juice in glass cup.

Because I was nervous, my hand slipped small and the juice poured on the center table

The panic that entered my body ehn!

I stood up immediately and started apologizing.

But my friend just laughed and said:
“It’s nothing.”

NOTHING ke?

In my house, if you break one cup, family meeting will hold.

That was when I realized rich people and poor people react differently to accidents

I once lied to impress people and the lie nearly finished me 😭

Back then in school, everybody in my hostel was talking about traveling abroad.

One girl said her uncle was in Canada.
Another said her sister was in UK.

Me that nobody asked anything suddenly said:
“My own aunt is in America.”

Omo 😂

Nobody even doubted me.

I now started adding unnecessary details.
“She sends dollars.”
“She wants to invite me soon.”

I was enjoying the fake life 😭

Then one day, problem came.

One of my roommates said her brother needed help processing visa and maybe my “America aunt” could help.

Immediately sweat started coming out from my neck 😭

I tried to change topic but this girl was serious.

Every day:
“Have you called your aunt?”
“What did she say?”

At some point, I started avoiding my own room.

Finally, one evening, I confessed that I lied 😭

The silence that followed ehn…

One girl just looked at me and said:
“So all the dollars we’ve been hearing since…”

Omo, embarrassment nearly sent me back to village 😂

Since then, I learned that a fake life requires too much energy.

The Day I almost ran mad because of Watsapp" Yesterday reminded me of something that happened to me in 2015😭

One night, I mistakenly sent “I miss you” to the wrong person on WhatsApp.

The message was meant for one guy I liked then.

But because sleep was worrying me, I accidentally sent it to one church brother that used to always greet me:
“Good morning sister.
“Have you eaten sister?

Immediately I noticed it, my body became hot 😭

I quickly deleted the message.

Two minutes later…

He replied:
“I saw it before you deleted it

Omo 😂😂😂

I didn’t even know what to say again.

Before I could explain, this man typed:
“To be honest, I’ve also been praying about us.”

PRAYING ABOUT WHO??? 😭

I was sweating seriously.

The next Sunday in church, he was smiling at me too much.

Even during closing prayer, I could feel his eyes on my head 😭

For almost one month, I avoided that side of church completely.

Till today, I still fear typing emotional messages when I’m sleepy 😂

I can never forget my first salary after NYSC 😭

The way I planned that money in my head ehn… you would think I was earning millions.

Immediately alert entered, I sat down and wrote budget:

- Send mummy money ✅
- Buy new slippers ✅
- Take myself out ✅
- Save balance ✅

Omo, I was feeling like a responsible adult

That evening, I entered one restaurant to “celebrate myself.”

As I was eating, one guy I knew from school suddenly entered with his friends.

Immediately he saw me, he shouted:
“Jendiona! So you don finally hammer?”

Ahhh
Everybody turned and looked at me.

To maintain levels, I told the waitress:
“Add chicken and smoothie.

The guy now brought his friends to my table.
They sat down confidently and started pressing my food

One even said:
“Since our girl is now working class…”

Before I knew it, bill reached almost all the money I budgeted for enjoyment

When I checked my account balance outside, I nearly cried.

That was the day I learned that poverty and pride are enemies

Since then, if I see people I know while eating outside, I suddenly remember urgent appointments. 🤣
