Here’s a look at a new poster for ‘Thamp̄’ (The Circus Tent, 1978) which has been selected for a world premiere at the Cannes Classic Section at the Festival de Cannes 2022.

The stunning restoration has been made possible thanks to the passion and drive of Film Heritage Foundation and Prasad Corporation Pvt. Ltd. with our long-time partners Martin Scorsese's The Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project and Cineteca di Bologna.

The restoration was done in 4K at the Prasad Corporation Pvt. Ltd.’s Post Studios - Chennai and L'Immagine Ritrovata lab, Bologna from a dupe negative struck from a 35 mm print preserved at the National Film Archive of India (NFAI).

Heartfelt thanks to the producer, K. Ravindranathan Nair of General Pictures, for graciously giving us permission to restore the film.

A big thank you also to Ramu Aravindan, photographer and graphic designer and the son of Aravindan, Shaji N. Karun, the cinematographer of the film, the FHF film conservators and all the technicians at Prasad and L’Immagine Ritrovata that worked with such dedication to create such a beautiful restoration.

We would like to thank Sai Prasad and Prasad Corporation Pvt. Ltd. for generously supporting the restoration with Film Heritage Foundation.
