The Last Dragon of the East by Katrina Kwan is inspired by Chinese myths of ancient dragon gods and threads of fate. Twenty something Sai lives a quiet, peaceful life with his family until someone sells dragon scales at his teashop to his mother. His life is turned upside down and we are on an adventure with Sai and Fated One.

The book kept me on hook since the very beginning, plus the whole bit of dragon along with fated soulmates equation was a star. It reads like a fairytale and is fast paced at the same time. The world building and history, culture is equally depicted very well. What I felt was lacking was that the MMC was kinda dull.

For a debut novel I felt the book was quite good, but maybe at the same time a lot of tropes were thrown at us here and there which could have been handled better. Jyn is a very powerful character, full of angst and willpower.

Thank you for having me on this book tour!

Book Tour Stop

Rewitched by Lucy Jane Wood is such an atmospheric, cozy yet little bit spooky read perfect for the October month 🎃 I am Belle, Belladonna Blackthorn is mee !!! I'm a libra too and a little witchy in my behaviour (as my friends say bitchy 😏)

I'm currently reading this book and am almost 50% done with it, there hasn't been a single minute where I felt bored, each page is so perfect, I am loving the way it's written in terms of even minute details of the surroundings, the 13 yrs old Bella facing her witch hood 😂

I like might have just found my first 5-star read for the month and I have no regrets. Also picked this up for as well... If you are looking for a read to lay in bed all day with your blanket and a hot cuppa cocoa, this is the one !!!! 🍁🎃

And considering this is authors debut novel, I am amazed and also excited to see the future books by Lucy Jane Wood 🪄 Also did I just forget to mention there's a hot cinnamon roll vampire too 🧛

Why We Remember by Dr. Charan Ranganath is a book which talks about 'Unlocking Memory's Power to Hold on to What Matters'. Coming from a psychology background this book intrigued me a lot, so when I came across the title I knew I had to give it a try and honestly I am not disappointed with the amount of information this book holds.

The book is definitely very well formulated with research backing and also the credibility that the author - Dr. Charan Ranganath has in the medical industry. Memory is a subject which has always interested and caught my attention when it comes to the most important part of our body i.e. brain. The book has a lot of heavy information so it took me a while to read and finish this considering the complexity of the topic.

It always fascinated me to know and learn about memory in general. Common questions as to why we sometimes have selective remembrance of a particular incident, or sometimes how we can remember events which took place years back but tend to forget about things which happened probably last week. The book helped me understand and answer some of these questions.

Memory is a highly transformative force that shapes how we experience the world in often invisible and sometimes destructive ways. Knowing this can help us with daily remembering tasks, like finding our keys, and with the challenge of memory loss as we age. What’s more, when we work with the brain’s ability to learn and reinterpret past events, we can heal trauma, shed our biases, learn faster, and grow in self-awareness.

Book Tour Stop ✨

The fifth book in the most loved and adorable series 'Before The Coffee Gets Cold' is here and I was soo soo excited to read this. ☕

Another book, another four stories of people going back in time at the Funiculi Funicula Café in Tokyo. The four tales are so heartwarming it always melts my heart to read these books. 🪑

1. The father who could not allow his daughter to get married..

2. A woman who couldn't give Valentine's Day chocolates to her loved one..

3. A boy who wants to show his smile to his divorced parents.. 🩹

4. A wife holding a child with no name..

The perfect autumn book to sip with your coffee and snuggle in bed with a blanket. I finished reading the first story and it was heartwrenching, but it all makes it better in the end. ❤️‍🩹

Yes at a few places the book does feel repetitive but I don't mind going back to it time and again to experience the mixed feelings of joy, sorrow and love all at the same time. 💌

Thank you .coffee for having me on this tour!

Book Tour Stop 🥀

Somewhere Beyond The Sea by T J Klune is the most awaited sequel to The House in the Cerulean Sea and the second book in the Cerulean Chronicles Series. I am currently reading this book and I am already hooked to the story since the very first page. I was so glad to be back in this world on Marsyas Island, with Arthur and the children. But this time he is not alone and joining him is the love of his life, Linus Baker.

The reason I love Klune's books is the fact that he is the perfect example of writing a book which brings joy and tears all at once. I especially love the magical setting, uncanny atmosphere and quirky characters in his books. David was a great addition to the book as well. Of course the book does hold very similar things from the previous one, but in spite of that I loved reading this one and going back to the eerie orphaned children and heartwarming writing style of the author.

I am totally biased and blindly in love with Klune's books and these characters... This book especially has more insights into the culture, politics and history of the island as compared to the first.

The Inugami Curse by Seishi Yokomizo is the second book in the 'Detective Kosuke Kindaichi' series and I am obsessed with his writing and books. This book is one of the most cruel murder mysteries in this series and I was completely blown away by the writing, the narration as well as the storyline.

Throughout I was hooked by this book and the characters were so well portrayed, personalities were very well displayed but at the same time had their secretive traits as well which made this Japanese murder mystery book more engrossing and gripping.

Three books down, three more to go in this series which is newly translated in English. I will be getting to them soon and devouring these brilliant murder mystery novels as soon as possible. If you are someone who enjoys the Japanese essence and is a fan of twisted murder mysteries, pick this up.

Q. If you had a chance to pick up your university who also had vampires there, would you go study there? 🧛🧛‍♀️

Immortal Dark by Tigest Dark is the perfect book for people who enjoyed reading The Cruel Prince and Ninth House. I knew I had to pick this up the moment I found out about it. The perfect blend of gothic elements with dark academia and vampires, what's more to ask for. It is a recipe set for success, and this unique book did not disappoint me either.

The whole high-stakes with the Uxlay university and the mystery had me hooked from the very beginning. Kidan Adane is an orphan who is trying hard to get into this university. Humans and Vampires are pretty much under the same roof here. The fans of enemies to lovers, forced proximity and angst.. I loved Kidan, she is a perfect character filled with rage, angst and power.

🥀 Dark Academia
⚔️Black Vampires
🩸MC with blood on her hands
💌 Forced Proximity
🌶️ Hot headed girl against angsty Vampire Villains

The rich history and culture of this book made it very atmospheric and interesting at the same time. I am curious and eagerly waiting to read the next books in this series. Maybe I would have enjoyed it more if we had a little bit more spicy scenes between the two characters, considering the bond and chemistry both of them shared.

Q. What's the one thing you always do that would make your day perfect when you are home alone?

🎀💌🥀

I have another comfort, less than 200 pages Japanese Literature book to recommend and that is 'A Perfect Day To Be Alone' written by Nanae Aoyama and translated by Jesse Kirkwood. Chizu our twenty-year-old protagonist moves in with a 71-year-old distant relative Ginko.

Chizu's mom has migrated to China due to her work and that's when the 20-year-old Chizu decides to step out and live on her terms. There is something about Japanese literature that always draws me towards them, and this one was no different. I enjoyed reading this sad, gloomy, relatable story even in my late 20s.

Yes, there is prolonged character development but I felt that's the beauty of this book, where we find solace in her monotonous life and reflect on our own at some point. As she navigates her life through multiple shifts at work, heartbreaks, and love interests, join her in her journey and see how she finds ways to make the best of her life.

Amongst The Believers by Kochery C Shibu is the author's third novel and such a roller coaster ride with poignant characters and a plot that will leave you thinking, and shocked for days. The novel is a saga of love, set in the backdrop of war-torn Afghanistan and Ukraine. I was so intrigued by the title of this book that I had to pick it up and the moment in the story when the title made sense and all the dots started joining, I had to pause for two minutes and take it all in, it was that good!!

Nanda joins the RAW and helps in a mysterious mission while Khusru is a terrorist who is to es**rt the warlord’s daughter, Miriam, to Bosnia. A journey that takes him to Iran, Armenia, and the prisons of Russia. Rekha is a dancer and has choreographed her life in the hands of Khusru and her obsession for him knows no bounds. The lives of these three characters are intertwined in this complicated and moving journey of war, loss, love, and the reality of life.

The book also holds the truths of our lives behind the curtains of a fictionalized story. Having read the author's previous two books as well, I must say that the storytelling and the writing have improved so much, despite too much information on cross-border countries, warfare, and the investigative nature of the book, I could not put it down. I was so engrossed in the lives of these three, I just had to know what would be the conclusion for them, and trust me until the very last page, the book did not disappoint me.
