Uttar Pradesh has emerged as India’s top state in electric vehicle (EV) registrations, recording over 4.14 lakh—surpassing Delhi (1.83 lakh) and Maharashtra (1.79 lakh). This growth is driven largely by the widespread use of e-rickshaws, which account for nearly 85% of EVs in the state, offering an affordable and efficient transport option in urban and semi-urban areas.

The surge is supported by the state’s 2022 Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy, which aims to attract ₹30,000 crore in investments and create 10 lakh jobs by promoting EV adoption and manufacturing. UP has also been a major beneficiary of the central government’s FAME I and II schemes.

To bolster infrastructure, the government has approved over 300 new charging stations across 16 cities, with Ayodhya receiving the highest number. As India targets 102 million EVs by 2030, UP’s aggressive policies and infrastructure push place it at the forefront of the country’s green mobility transition.

EV charging network provider Statiq has partnered with VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), a Volvo Group–Eicher Motors joint venture, to integrate over 8,000 public charging points into VECV’s MyEicher fleet management platform. This move will allow users of the new Eicher Pro X electric trucks to access real-time charger availability, navigation, and tariff details directly through the MyEicher app—streamlining route planning and minimizing downtime for fleet operators. Beyond digital integration, the partnership includes developing end-to-end charging infrastructure, with Statiq providing installation, operations, and maintenance of AC and DC fast chargers tailored for commercial EVs. The companies also plan to explore shared infrastructure models and mobile charging services. Statiq CEO Aksh*t Bansal called the collaboration a key step toward building a reliable EV ecosystem, while VECV's Abhishek Chaudhary emphasized its role in accelerating India's e-mobility transition. Currently operating in 65 cities, Statiq aims to expand its network to 20,000 charging stations by the end of 2025.
