In her earlier interview, Mary Kom stated, “My husband is the real champion; he supports me.” However, recently on Aap Ki Adalat, when Rajat Sharma said that her husband left his successful football career for her, she said, “Kaunsa successful career? Mere se shaadi ki, meri earning se sab mil gaya.”

She further stated, “Yeh kaunsa ladka hai jo ladki ki kamai par baith ke kha sakta hai?”

Mary Kom sparked widespread debate after her appearance on Aap Ki Adalat with Rajat Sharma, where she openly discussed her divorce and made blunt remarks about her husband on a national platform.

Rejecting claims that he gave up a football career for the family, the boxing legend said he never had a professional career, earned nothing, and lived off her income. She also alleged that he accessed her bank accounts without her knowledge.

The interview quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions online. While some defended her right to speak her truth, others felt the language and tone crossed a line, especially when personal disputes are played out before millions of viewers.

The episode has reignited a larger debate on whether public platforms should be used to settle private marital conflicts, and if public shaming or name-calling is acceptable, irrespective of whether it comes from a man or a woman.

Asia’s largest red-light area is Sonagachi in Kolkata.
A woman working in a red-light area is saying: If you want to satisfy your lust, you should have come to Sonagachi. What is the need to prey on women who are studying, working, and living respectable lives?
This brave woman is showing society a mirror. If this is the situation even when a red-light area exists, then what would the state of women’s safety be if there were no red-light areas at all?
Final line: Why do men need red-light areas? When women can live without red-light areas, why can’t men?
