Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday handed over exhibitions belonging to the International Buddhist Confederation and the National Museum to the Kalmyk Museum in Elista, Republic of Kalmykia, Russia.
The Lieutenant Governor said the gesture would help preserve the memory of the sacred relics of Lord Buddha and strengthen cultural and spiritual ties between India and Kalmykia.
โThe importance and relevance of Lord Buddhaโs teachings, and the historic visit of the holy relics to this beautiful land, will be remembered by generations to come,โ the LG said.
He emphasized that history, tradition, culture, and spiritual wisdom form the foundation of identity and ethical values. โPreservation and education of heritage are essential, and I am truly delighted to see this museum embodying the essence of Kalmykia under one roof,โ he added.
Later, Sinha visited the National Library in Elista, named after Amur-Sanan, a prominent Kalmyk writer and public figure. During the visit, he donated several books on Buddhism from his personal collection to the library.
