According to writer Amin Hajee, Ashutosh Gowariker's Swades was originally titled Desh and written for Aamir Khan right after Lagaan.

The writer shared that Aamir liked the core plot but wanted more time to work on the screenplay, while R Madhavan's audition for the role was truly impressive and memorable 🎬

The promo is 2 minutes 52 seconds long and was certified on September 1.
