The Missing Road of Bam–Akajan
🚨 THE “MISSING ROAD” OF BAM–AKAJAN 🚨
Bam–Akajan Road: A 4-Km Stretch Forgotten by the Authorities
The approximately 4-km stretch from ITBP Camp to Bam Bridge along the Bam–Akajan Road has become a glaring example of official neglect. Despite being constructed years ago, it appears that the concerned agency has almost forgotten this vital stretch of road.
Today, the road is riddled with deep potholes, damaged surfaces and dangerous stretches, causing immense hardship to commuters. Many vehicle owners have reportedly suffered damage to their vehicles while travelling through this neglected portion.
Ironically, this road seems to survive largely because of the goodwill and voluntary efforts of well-wishers, who step forward from time to time to carry out maintenance work.
âť“ But the questions remain:
👉 Why has this important road virtually disappeared from the priority list of the authorities?
👉 Why is there no regular maintenance mechanism for this vital stretch?
👉 Who will take responsibility for its maintenance?
👉 How many more years must the public suffer?
👉 How many vehicles must be damaged before action is taken?
This is not merely a village road. The Bam–Akajan Road connects several areas and districts and holds strategic importance, including for defence and security movement.
The public deserves answers—not excuses.
It is time for the District Administration and the State Government to identify this “missing road,” take responsibility, and restore it before a serious accident occurs.
📢 A road that connects people, communities and strategic areas should not be allowed to disappear from the development map.
The people are waiting. The questions are many. Now, who will answer?

GYO Announces 12-Hour Leparada District Bandh on 06 September 2026 from morning 5 A.M to Evening 5 P.M
Basar, Leparada: Bomkar Gara, President of the Galo Youth Organisation (GYO), along with his team, has announced a 12-hour Leparada District Bandh, appealing to the general public, commuters and business community to extend their support and cooperation.
According to GYO, the objective of the movement is to unite the Galo community, strengthen the spirit of brotherhood, and preserve the sense of oneness among the people.
GYO expressed concern over the ongoing differences between the Galo Welfare Society (GWS) and Galo Luune baane Keba (GLBK), stating that continued confrontation between the organisations could adversely affect the unity, peace and social harmony of the Galo community.
The organisation has appealed to both bodies to come forward for an immediate peace dialogue and find an amicable solution to the issue.
GYO further stated that if a solution is not reached by tomorrow, the bandh may be extended to other Galo-dominated districts.
“Our objective is not confrontation, but unity, peace and a stronger Galo community.”
