Get him into the T20I setup as soon as possible. His technique may not be suited for ODIs or red ball cricket, but in T20s, that same approach becomes an advantage. He plays more false shots than most players in the current setup, which means he is constantly taking risks.
T20 cricket is simple, play more false shots, more false shots means more risks which means more rewards.
He certainly is not an ODI player, but he can be a very impactful T20 player. And this was the only point of concern where I was being critical regarding his technique.
This technique suits T20 cricket only.
The job of selectors is simple. Identify which players fit which format, and back them accordingly. Pick specialists for each format instead of forcing one template on everyone.
Do that job properly.
