A survey conducted by Ontegos Cloud in August and September among more than 800 freight forwarding and logistics professionals found that while nearly half of respondents expect artificial intelligence (AI) to transform the industry in the next three years, most companies lack the data quality required to adopt these solutions effectively.

According to the findings, 48% of respondents believe AI will reshape freight forwarding within three years.

Freightos and YTO Cargo Airlines have announced a partnership that will make YTO’s full capacity exclusively available on the WebCargo by Freightos platform. The move makes YTO the first all-cargo Chinese airline on the booking platform, which already has more than 75 airlines live. The collaboration will give freight forwarders real-time pricing, instant booking, interline connections, and integrated payments across high-demand trade lanes between China and South Asia.

Teleport, the logistics arm of Capital A Berhad, and China Central Longhao Airlines Co. Ltd (Air Central China) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 18 September 2025 at the Zhengzhou-Kuala Lumpur ‘Air Silk Road’ Forum in Sepang, Malaysia. The agreement aims to strengthen air cargo connectivity between China and Southeast Asia, streamline cargo movement, and support Malaysia’s vision to position Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) as a regional and global trade hub.

Following the signing, the two companies announced an interline agreement to enable faster and seamless cargo transfer across their networks.

DHL Express has inaugurated its new international hub at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport, following an investment of $85.6 million. The facility, completed in less than two years, can process more than 20,000 pieces per hour which is seven times the capacity of the previous site, reinforcing Barcelona’s position as a key global logistics centre.

Menzies Aviation has opened its third cargo warehouse at Sydney Airport (SYD), expanding its footprint in Australia’s busiest cargo hub. The new 5,000-square-metre facility, named ‘M1’, is designed to provide state-of-the-art handling capabilities and enhance the company’s growing operations at the airport, according to an official release from Menzies Aviation.

Cathay Cargo and United Cargo have become the first airline partners to commence operations at M1.

A The Boeing Company 777 freighter landed at Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport in Jinan, the capital of East China’s Shandong province. on September 6, marking the launch of the Luxembourg–Jinan–Nottingham cargo route. This becomes the airport’s third international service with fifth freedom rights, further boosting Jinan’s air logistics connectivity with Europe.
