Spring is in the air. Mother Nature is alive with all her colours in full glory!
Narmada Apartments Residents Welfare Association (NRWA) decided to celebrate Basant Utsav to bring together its residents in a colourful cultural extravaganza on the evening of March 7th .

The Children's Park was gaily decorated with broad, yellow ribbons, yellow and orange flower cut-outs and flower pots of all hues.

The NRWA lead by Shri Pushkar Sinha, President, used this occasion to also spread awareness about waste management - its segregation and conversion into compost. Shri Sinha aims to make Narmada Apartments a zero waste complex and this was the first step in that regard.

The chief guests, Shri Subhash Bhadana Deputy Mayor of SDMC and Padma Bhushan Dr. K. K. Talwar , Chairman PSRI Hospital were greeted with gift hampers and a welcome song by senior singer Smt. Pratibha Singhal and other ladies.

Shri Subhash Bhadana, encouraged all the residents to be mindful of the waste that is being generated and support and encourage the Safai Karamcharis to ensure clean surroundings.

PadmaBhushan Dr. K. K. Talwar, also addressed the residents and exhorted everyone to take care of their health, maintain all Covid Protocols and get vaccinated.

SDMC officers were also present who made a presentation regarding their laws mandated on segregation of dry and wet waste.

Mr. Vineet Vohra of Plant-a-Tree Foundation talked of the importance of planting and preserving trees. He also talked of Eco- Bricks which re-uses household plastic waste to fashion them into bricks, an activity which can be undertaken by everybody. This will ensure plastic does not find its way into the landfill.

It was not all about speeches, though. There were activities and songs and dances too.

The morning saw children of all ages try their hand at drawing and painting on the theme of Green Earth. The best paintings were awarded prizes in the evening.

There was a grand cultural programme following the presentations.

Ms. Jayaprabha Menon, internationally acclaimed and awarded Mohini Attam danseuse presented two enthralling Bharata Natyam performances by the students of her International Academy of Mohini Attam.

Children danced to an invocation to the Goddess Saraswati , paid their respects to the God of Dance, Nataraja and then celebrated spring through their mesmerizing dances.

The children of Narmada too put up dances with great enthusiasm.
Tik tik tik tik, plastic tik na paaye re said 2 bright boys in a robust dance performance.
9 young children then dressed up as trees and asked everyone to protect them in another enthralling dance.
Then 7 young girls and boys used their dance to convey an important message to everyone to do everything in their power to save rivers - life force of man.
The cultural programme ended with poetry and songs on spring.

No event is complete without sumptuous food. True enough, there were plenty of food stalls offering delicious South Indian cuisine, biryani, litti chokha, chaat, cutlets, burgers, pizzas, pastas ,muffins and more.

There were also stalls offering the latest in fashion - garments and accessories, food essences, organic honey, ghee, pulses, potted plants etc.

All the residents turned up for the Utsav in their best and enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

This event would not have been successful without the untiring efforts of the team behind it - Lead by Shri Pushkar Sinha and ably supported by Shri V. K Sharma, Mrs. and Mr. Bajaj and Ms. Antra Khurana handled the waste and plant management efforts. Ms. Shimonti Sinha and Ms. Ruby Mendiratta beautifully decorated the place, Ms. Deeksha Jerath managed all the vendors smoothly. Ms. Rupalim and Ms. Ritika helped organise the art and flower show competitions.
Ms Jayaprabha Menon, Ms. Jyoti Anchan and Ms. Anita Singhal put together the cultural program.

All in all, an event to remember and cherish!
