Ravana wasn't just a villain. 👑
Every Dussehra we burn his effigy. But few people know the other side of the man behind the ten heads 👇

He was half-Brahmin — grandson of the great sage Pulastya, son of sage Vishrava. His ten heads?

They didn't symbolize ten faces — they represented his mastery of the four Vedas and six shastras. He was one of the most learned scholars who ever lived.

He was one of the greatest devotees of Lord Shiva. When his ego made him try to lift Mount Kailash, Shiva pressed it down with a single toe and trapped him.

In that pain, Ravana didn't curse — he sang. That hymn became the Shiva Tandava Stotram, still chanted across the world today.

He was a master astrologer — so powerful that legend says when his son Meghnad was born, he commanded the planets into positions that would grant immortality.

He authored the Ravana Samhita, still referenced in Jyotish.

He mastered Ayurveda, music, and even invented the Ravanahatha — an instrument still played in Rajasthan.

And here's what most forget 👇

When Ravana lay dying, Rama sent Lakshmana to sit at his feet — as a student — and learn from him.

A dying Ravana gave one of history's greatest lessons on statecraft. His advice? "Never underestimate your enemy… and always trust astrology and the movement of the stars — for they never lie." 🌌

So was Ravana evil? He was brilliant, powerful, and deeply devoted — undone by one fatal flaw: ahankaar (ego). As the Ramayana says: "Vinashkale vipreet buddhi" — when destruction nears, wisdom turns against itself.

That's the real lesson of Dussehra. We don't burn a villain. We burn the ego that can destroy even the most gifted soul. 🔥🙏
