A cluster of active weather systems is shaping conditions across southern and eastern India in this satellite–wind visualization.
A cyclonic circulation over the southwest Bay of Bengal, positioned off the south Sri Lanka coast, is pushing strong converging winds toward Tamil Nadu and Kerala. This is visible in the dense green–yellow wind bands and lightning signatures over the Bay.
A second circulation over the Comorin region is adding more lower- and mid-level moisture into the South Peninsula. Another circulation over south Bangladesh is influencing wind flow across East India.
Far to the north, a western disturbance marked by a cyclonic circulation over Ladakh is modifying upper-level wind patterns across the Himalayan belt.
Over the next 24 hours, this setup will continue to pump moisture towards the southern states.
Light to moderate rain with isolated heavy spells is expected over Kerala and Tamil Nadu, supported by the strong onshore winds seen in the image.
Coastal Karnataka may see increasing rain intensity as the moisture plume curves westward.
The Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep remain under a moist easterly stream, favouring light to moderate rainfall.
Isolated light rain is possible over interior and north Tamil Nadu, north Kerala, and Arunachal Pradesh.
Cold, dry northwesterly winds sweeping across central India—clearly visible over Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh—will sustain cold wave to severe cold wave conditions.
Shallow fog is also likely in parts of northeast India under stable, moisture-trapped layers.
