😳 Sony says buying a $70 digital PlayStation game doesn’t mean you actually own it.
In a court filing, Sony argued that players are buying a licence, not ownership — despite the “Buy Now” wording on the PlayStation Store. 🎮
Sony used Resident Evil Requiem as an example, pointing to two customers who each paid $69.99 for the game.
The company argued that if the first customer actually owned the digital game, Sony wouldn’t have been able to sell that same game to another customer just 11 days later.
The lawsuit also claims the PlayStation Store’s “Buy Now” wording can give customers the impression that they are purchasing the game itself, while Sony’s terms state that “you do not own the product.”
