If someone does not support you in public, chances are they have spoken against you in private.
It may sound harsh, but over the years I have seen that silence is often a strong signal.
Support is not just about applause. It is about advocacy when you are not in the room.
I have seen talented people lose opportunities not because of a lack of ability, but because the people around them chose convenience over courage.
Pay attention to those who:
✅ Appreciate you privately but never publicly
✅ Agree with you one on one but stay silent in groups
✅ Celebrate your success in messages but not in meetings
Not everyone who smiles with you is standing with you.
The lesson is not to become bitter.
The lesson is to identify your real allies.
Build relationships with people who:
• Give credit where it is due
• Defend you when it is uncomfortable
• Speak positively about you when you are absent
• Celebrate your wins without feeling threatened
Your reputation is often built in rooms you never enter.
Choose and build your circle wisely.
