दो स्टम्प की समस्या: क्रिकेट के शुरुआती दिनों में विकेट के लिए सिर्फ दो स्टम्प का इस्तेमाल होता था और उनके ऊपर एक लंबी गिल्ली (Bail) रखी जाती थी। लेकिन इन दोनों स्टम्पों के बीच में काफी खाली जगह (Gap) होती थी।

1775 की ऐतिहासिक घटना: सन 1775 में एक मैच के दौरान, गेंदबाज एडवर्ड 'लम्पी' स्टीवंस (Edward "Lumpy" Stevens) ने बल्लेबाज जॉन स्मॉल (John Small) को गेंदबाजी की। गेंद तीन बार दोनों स्टम्पों के बीच से सीधी निकल गई, लेकिन गिल्ली नहीं गिरी। चूँकि गिल्ली नहीं गिरी थी, इसलिए अंपायर ने बल्लेबाज को 'आउट' नहीं दिया।

The sunny conditions at the national capital didn't deter the competitive spirit of the archers as 40-year-old Rakesh Kumar and the 30-en gold medal match while Haryana's Pooja won ound gold med7 while Payal beoubl
