Housefull 5 Movie Review ★★★☆☆ (3/5): A Dizzying, Logic-Defying Ride That Still Manages to Squeeze Out Laughs
Housefull 5 Movie Review: It delivers a wild, confusing plot packed with over-the-top comedy. Despite its complexity, the film forces laughs through sheer chaos and energy. The fifth installment of Sajid Nadiadwala’s laugh-riot franchise, Housefull 5, is exactly what you expect—and yet somehow more chaotic, more layered (in the most bewildering way), and more eager than ever to make you laugh… whether you want to or not.
This time around, director Tarun Mansukhani attempts something wildly ambitious: a complex, convoluted storyline involving five couples, multiple mistaken identities, cross-generational confusion, and what seems like reincarnation… or is it roleplay? It’s genuinely hard to tell.

The story hops across time, places, and egos. There’s a palatial estate, a cursed royal bloodline, long-lost brothers (or are they cousins?), and a mysterious book that may or may not hold the key to everyone’s memory. Honestly, by the time the third “secret twin” is revealed, you’ve either surrendered to the madness—or quietly started Googling movie timings for something else. The entire movie was shot on a luxury cruise ship. If you love water, ships, casinos, liquor, crime, and suspense, then do some time-passing in the theatres. Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff seen together after many years in the roles of police officers, attempting to unravel the mystery of the murder. To maintain the rhythm in the suspenseful story, they have thus added a twist. The song Phoogdi adds some refreshment while you can go out and buy popcorn and samosas. I had already watched it at home. When I asked my wife to come and watch it in the theatres, she denied it and didn’t come with me. She was inspired by Aamir Khan’s recent statement on releasing the movie on Netflix or Prime.
And yet, you laugh.
Sometimes Bala, sometimes Raju, Akshay Kumar once again proves he has impeccable comic timing—even if the script seems hell-bent on confusing him. Riteish Deshmukh delivers with his signature brand of silliness, and the supporting cast (Pooja Hegde, Kriti Sanon, Jacqueline Fernandez, and others) throws itself fully into the absurdity, often becoming the punchline rather than delivering it. J***y Lever rocks as always!
Is the story digestible? Absolutely not.
Is it logical? Not in the slightest.
But does it ooze laugh-force through sheer willpower, loud background scores, wacky expressions, and relentless energy? Oh, yes.
