Surah Al-Baqarah | Verse 267
Allah commands believers to spend from the good and lawful things they have earned and from what He has produced from the earth for them. They should not choose poor-quality or defective items to give in charity—things they themselves would not accept except reluctantly. Allah is Self-Sufficient and Praiseworthy.
The lesson is that charity should be given from what is good, honest, and valuable, not from leftovers or things we consider worthless. True generosity means offering the best we can for Allah’s sake. The verse teaches sincerity, gratitude, and excellence in giving, recognizing that Allah does not need our wealth, but values our intentions and quality of sacrifice.
