*Two Dead as Oil Tanker Rolls Down in Leh-Ladakh Road Accident*

Leh, July 3 (JKNS): Two persons lost their lives in a tragic road accident on the Leh–Ladakh highway Wednesday evening after an oil tanker skidded off the road and rolled into a deep gorge.

An official told news agency JKNS that both the driver and conductor of the tanker died on the spot due to the impact of the crash. “We reached the site and attempted to assist, but unfortunately both had succumbed to their injuries by the time help arrived,” official said

The identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. (JKNS)

*Daily Wager Employee Injured in Bear Attack While on Duty in Rahal, Kishtwar*

Kishtwar, July 2 (JKNS): A daily-wager employee sustained injuries after being attacked by a wild bear while performing his duty in the Rahal area of Inderwal in Kishtwar district on Tuesday evening.

Reports reaching news agency JKNS said that Tariq Hussain, a Daily Rated Worker (DRW) and resident of Rahal, was engaged in his routine work when the wild animal suddenly attacked him, leaving him injured.

Local residents rushed to the spot and shifted the injured man to a nearby hospital for medical attention. His condition is said to be stable. (JKNS)

*ACB Investigating Recruitment Scam in Fire & Emergency Services Department*

*Wrong Selections Under Scanner; Money Trails, Touts Being Tracked: FIR Registered*

Srinagar, July 1 (JKNS): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) J&K has confirmed ongoing investigations into large-scale irregularities in the 2020 recruitment process of Firemen and Fireman Drivers in the Fire and Emergency Services Department, following serious complaints from aggrieved aspirants.

In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS reads, this is for the information of general public and in particular for the aggrieved aspirants of Fire and Emergency Services Department J&K. Based on complaint about irregularities in the recruitment process of Fireman and Fireman Drivers in 2020, the Anti Corruption Bureau J&K through P/S Central ACB J&K conducted verification into the matter where certain irregularities were found in the recruitment process and certain candidates were wrongly selected.

Based on the findings of the verification, a formal case FIR No. 01/2025 was registered in P/S Central ACB J&K on 01/01/2025. There are several allegations which need in-depth investigation and is time consuming. Some of the facts which lead to delay in the completion in the investigation are Identification of wrongly selected candidate and study of their bank transaction history to identify the money trail so that they can properly be linked in the instant case, it reads.

Identification of touts/middleman through whom the money of the wrongly selected candidates has routed and study of the bank transaction history of such touts to identify the forward money trail, so that the culprits at the highest level can be identified, it reads.

The recruitment process under question was a huge process whereunder around 700 candidates have been selected as such large volumes of records are to be scrutinized properly to identify the wrongly selected candidates and the other culprits and the modus-operandi used, it reads.

All these processes are tedious and time consuming and are to be meticulously taken. However, the Anti Corruption Bureau J&K is vigorously working on it and are committed to deliver justice by identifying all the irregularities in the said recruitment process and complete the investigation in the instant case at an earliest, reads the statement. MLA Ramban Lays Foundation Stone for Kilaseri to Dayargali Road via Dugga

Ramban, July 1: Taking a major step towards strengthening rural connectivity, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Ramban, Advocate Arjun Singh Raju, today laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Kilaseri to Dayargali road via Dugga.

The 5-kilometre road project is being executed by the Public Works Department (PWD) R&B Ramban under the NAMARD RIDF-XXVII scheme. The project, sanctioned for the year 2022-23, carries an estimated cost of ₹499.50 lakh, with an allotment of ₹311.92 lakh.

The project is expected to benefit a population of over 2,000, providing a vital boost to connectivity, easing transportation challenges, and contributing to the socio-economic upliftment of the region.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Arjun Singh Raju reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring accelerated development and robust infrastructure in Ramban, especially in remote and underserved areas. He said that the road project was a long-pending demand of the locals, which will soon translate into improved accessibility and economic growth for the area.

Executive Engineer PWD Ramban, Ranjeet Singh, along with engineers, officers from various departments, and prominent citizens, attended the foundation stone-laying ceremony. Locals expressed gratitude to the MLA and the administration for addressing a key infrastructure need of the area.

*Labourer from Doda Dies by Su***de in Kargil, Police Initiate Investigation*

Kargil, July 1 (JKNS): A 28-year-old labourer from Doda district of Jammu division was found dead by su***de in a rented room in Saliskote area of Kargil late last night, police said.

Official sources told news agency JKNS that the deceased has been identified as Shakeel Ahmed, son of Nazir Ahmed, a resident of Paray Pur, Tehsil Gundana, District Doda, who was temporarily living in Ludna, Shekipur. Shakeel had arrived in Saliskote around June 12 to work as a labourer and was sharing accommodation with two others.

According to police sources, Shakeel had complained of stomach pain and stayed back while his roommates went to work. Around 1 PM, when the others returned, they found the door locked from inside. On peeking through the window, they discovered Shakeel hanging.

Police reached the spot soon after being informed and secured the area. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team also arrived at the scene and entered the room by breaking through a window.

“Prima facie, it appears to be a case of su***de,” a police officer told JKNS. “No signs of forced entry or struggle were observed at the site.”

Post-mortem of the body is currently underway, and the deceased’s father and uncle have arrived in Kargil. Further investigation is ongoing. (JKNS)

District Administration Doda bids farewell to Irshad Ahmed Khurwani
DODA, JUNE 30: District Administration Doda today accorded a warm farewell to Irshad Ahmed Khurwani, Head Assistant (Nazir) at DC Office Doda on his superannuation after the rendering service of 40 years.
A farewell function was organized at DC Office Doda to mark the occasion, which was graced by the Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh as the Chief Guest.
The DC appreciated the dedication, discipline and valuable contributions of the retiree throughout his service and extended best wishes for a healthy and happy post retirement life.
