During his tenure as Deputy Mayor of Ranchi Municipal Corporation Ajay Nath Shahdeo lead the work on Piped Water Supply, Drainage, Sanitation and Poverty Alleviation.

Ajay Nath Shahdeo is widely known for his social contribution, some of the major initiatives are listed below:

• Actively working with over a thousand youth directly through more than 70 Rural & Urban Youth Clubs promoting Sports and Social activity. • Lead the campaigns against eve teasing and sexual harassment of girls in schools and colleges of Ranchi with various social organizations. • Involved with promoting Women Self Help Group for Employment and Empowerment. • Ajay Nath Shahdeo has been actively involved working towards Revival of dying Water Bodies of Ranchi with the help of NGOs and Citizen Forums of Ranchi. The initiatives were featured in India Today's Hindi Edition. • Lead and successfully executed a campaign for planting 1 Lakh trees in Ranchi and surroundings. • Another very important initiative that Ajay Nath Shahdeo has taken up is promoting and implementation of Rain Water Harvesting Projects and Polythene Free Environment in Ranchi.
