Coordination Meeting Held for the Grand Finale of Sikkim Idol – Season 2

Rangpo, November 2, 2025:
A coordination meeting for the preparation and successful organisation of the Grand Finale of Sikkim Idol – Season 2 was held today at the Tourist Guest House, Rangpo.

The meeting was chaired by Shri Jacob Khaling, Political Secretary to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, and attended by Shri R.K. Waling Rai, Chairman, Temi Tea Board; Smt. Bindhya Biswakarma, Chairperson; SDM, Rangpo; SDPO, Rangpo; representatives from the Rangpo Nagar Panchayat including Shri Pinku Kumar Prasad, and from the Singtam Nagar Panchayat including Shri Suresh Tamang, President.

The meeting was also attended by Shri Vivek Chettri, Zilla Panchayat Member, Smt. Kusum Tamang, Panchayat President, and several Panchayat Members. The CLC Team, coordinated by OSD to MLA Shri Bhau Bhakta Pradhan and General Secretary Shri D.K. Chettri, was also present.

Detailed discussions were held on various aspects related to the smooth conduct of the event, including venue management, parking arrangements, security coordination, publicity, and overall logistics. A resolution was unanimously passed to organise the Grand Finale of Sikkim Idol – Season 2 in a grand and well-coordinated manner.

The Organising Committee expressed its gratitude to all departments, officials, and local bodies for their proactive cooperation and commitment towards ensuring the success of the event.

SORENG DISTRICT POLICE SEIZE CONTRABAND SUBSTANCES

Soreng, November 3, 2025

In yet another significant achievement in the ongoing war against drug abuse, the Nayabazar Police Station under Soreng District Police successfully intercepted one WagonR taxi bearing registration number SK06T/0337 near Sikip Phatak along the Jorethang–Reshi State Highway, and apprehended one individual, Yogesh Rai ,35 years, son of Damber Singh Rai, resident of Mangalbaria, Soreng District, who was found in possession of contraband substances. The interception took place at around 1800 hours on November 3, 2025.

During the search of the vehicle conducted by police officers in the presence of Mr. Dilip D**g, MEO, NJMP Jorethang–Nayabazar, and local Gram Panchayat members, the following items were recovered and seized from the possession of the accused:

• 288 (two hundred and eighty-eight) blue-coloured Winspasmo Forte capsules
• 99 (ninety-nine) N10 tablets
• 6 (six) bottles of I/Koff cough syrup
• Cash amounting to ₹43,330/- (Rupees forty-three thousand three hundred and thirty only)

Accordingly, a case under relevant provisions of the Sikkim Anti-Drugs Act, 2006 (SADA) has been registered at Nayabazar Police Station and is presently under active investigation.

It is further informed that the accused Yogesh Rai is a known habitual drug peddler, who had been under constant surveillance by Soreng District Police for some time. He has been arrested, and the contraband substances along with the vehicle used in the offence have been duly seized.

The Soreng District Police reiterates its firm commitment to making the district drug-free and urges every member of the civil society to actively cooperate and join hands in this collective fight against the menace of drug abuse.

Let us all strive together to make Soreng District a Nasha-Mukt (Drug-Free) District, contributing towards a safer and brighter future for our youth and the nation.

5th Day of the 18th LD Kazi Memorial Gold Cup Football Tournament 2025 – Chakung
