All Sikkim Tamang Family Pays Tribute to Victims of Nepal Flash Flood Disaster
GANGTOK, SEPTEMBER 2: The All Sikkim Tamang Family has expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in the devastating flash floods and natural disaster that struck Nepal on August 26, 2026.
In a tribute to the victims, the organisation gathered to light butter lamps and offer prayers for the departed souls, conveying condolences and solidarity with the bereaved families and affected communities in Nepal.
The prayer programme was held in the presence of MLA Aditya Golay Tamang, along with Nima Wangdi Tamang, Passang Tamang (Fayfullo Jojo), Norbu Tamang, Kamal Kumar Tamang, Kishore Tamang, Kamal Tamang, M. K. Tamang, Subash Tamang, Amit Zimba, Wngchuk Pakhrin, Monaj Lama and other members of the Tamang community in Sikkim.
The organisation said the tragedy had deeply touched the people of Sikkim, noting that the cultural, historical, familial and emotional bonds between Sikkim and Nepal go beyond geographical boundaries. It stated that the pain and suffering of the people of Nepal are being strongly felt in Sikkim.
Describing the butter lamp tribute as a symbol of remembrance, compassion and hope, the All Sikkim Tamang Family said each lamp carried prayers for the peaceful passage of those who lost their lives and for strength to the families enduring immense sorrow.
The organisation also conveyed its appreciation to rescue teams, security personnel, volunteers, medical teams, local communities and humanitarian workers engaged in relief, rescue and recovery operations.
Reaffirming its solidarity with Nepal, the All Sikkim Tamang Family said it stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of the neighbouring country in this painful hour and prayed for peace for the departed, courage for grieving families, and healing and support for all those affected.
