58 RR extended prompt assistance in the search and rescue operations for Muzammil Ahmed, a young boy aged 17 years of LAR village, who was reportedly swept away in the Bharansal Nala near GULABGARH in Reasi district, due to strong currents. Displaying exceptional dedication and humanitarian commitment, Army personnel coordinated closely with local authorities and civil administration to conduct intensive search operations in challenging terrain and adverse conditions.

Despite difficult conditions, the troops continued relentless efforts to trace the missing boy.

The swift response and selfless service of the Army personnel reflected their unwavering commitment towards safeguarding civilian lives and supporting the local population during times of distress.

REASI POLICE RECOVERS CONTRABAND SUBSTANCE; THREE ACCUSED ARRESTED, INCLUDING ONE INTERSTATE ACCUSED FROM PUNJAB

*Reasi, 22 May 2026:* Continuing its drive against drug abuse under the *Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan,* District Police Reasi achieved success by recovering he**in and arresting three accused persons in Katra.

During routine hotel checking in Katra town on 21 May, Police apprehended two persons namely Rakesh Kumar S/O Bishan Das R/O Nagrota and Manjeet Kaur W/O Late Harpreet Singh R/O Amritsar, Punjab, from Devi Lodge, Katra, who were found in an intoxicated condition. Manjeet Kaur is an interstate accused from Punjab.

During their search, police recovered approximately 2.5 grams of he**in along with foil papers and other incriminating material from their possession. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused were allegedly involved in drug abuse and intended sale of the contraband substance among the youth of District Reasi.

During further investigation, one more person namely Varinder Singh S/O Kamal Singh R/O Mari, Reasi, who had allegedly come to purchase the contraband substance, was also apprehended. Police recovered cash amounting to Rs. 26,730 from his possession, which he had allegedly brought for purchasing the drug.

All the accused were arrested on the spot. In this regard, a case FIR No. 157/2026 under sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation is underway.

District Police Reasi appeals to the general public, especially the youth, to stay away from drugs and cooperate with police in making society drug-free. Citizens are requested to share any information related to drug peddling or drug abuse with the nearest police establishment so that strict action can be taken against those involved in such illegal activities.

Reasi Administration reviews arrangements for Eid-ul-Azha celebrations

REASI, MAY 22: Additional Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Rakesh Kumar, today chaired a meeting to review arrangements for the forthcoming Eid-ul-Azha festival and ensure smooth, peaceful and hassle-free celebrations across District Reasi.
The meeting was attended by officers from various departments, including Police, Health, Jal Shakti, JPDCL, Municipal Committees, Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Rural Development, Transport, Fire & Emergency Services and other concerned departments, besides representatives of religious organisations.
During the meeting, the ADC took a comprehensive review of arrangements related to security, uninterrupted power and drinking water supply, sanitation, healthcare facilities, traffic management and the availability of essential commodities during the festival days.
The Executive Officers of Municipal Committees Reasi and Katra were directed to ensure proper cleanliness and sanitation around mosques, Eidgahs and market areas, while Block Development Officers were asked to ensure adequate sanitation and essential civic arrangements in rural areas.
The ADC instructed the Legal Metrology Department to conduct regular market inspections and monitor the prices and quality of eatable items to prevent overpricing and ensure the availability of quality commodities for consumers.
The Health Department was directed to keep medical teams, ambulances and emergency healthcare services on alert, while the PDD and Jal Shakti departments were asked to ensure uninterrupted electricity and drinking water supply across the district. The Fire & Emergency Services Department was also directed to keep fire tenders in readiness at strategic locations.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Chief Medical Officer Dr. M.A. Kolhi, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Sarfaraz Nassem Choudhary, Executive Engineers of JPDCL and PWD, besides other concerned officers.

REASI POLICE ORGANIZES THANA DIWAS ACROSS DISTRICT, STRENGTHENS POLICE-PUBLIC COORDINATION

Reasi, 21.05.2026: Reasi Police today organized Thana Diwas programmes at Sersundwan, Raskeen, Dadooa and PS Ransoo to strengthen police-public relations and address public grievances.

At Sersundwan, the programme was conducted under the supervision of Dy.SP Hqrs Reasi alongwith SHO PS Reasi, while at Raskeen it was held under the supervision of SHO Arnas. Public issues related to employment disengagement in various departments, demand for electricity department meetings, PMAY houses, weapon inspection of VDGs and other local concerns were heard patiently.

At Village Dadooa under Police Post Bhambla, the programme was presided over by SHO Pouni. Locals were sensitized about the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, ill effects of drug abuse, legal action against drug trafficking and the importance of sharing information with police. Awareness regarding ERSS-112 was also provided.

Similarly, Thana Diwas was organized at PS Ransoo where shopkeepers and local residents actively participated and projected their grievances. Participants were also educated about cybercrime awareness, drug abuse prevention and the importance of public cooperation in maintaining peace.

The public appreciated the initiative and the programmes concluded peacefully with cordial police-public interaction.
