*SAMBA POLICE EXPOSES NEW MODUS OPERANDI OF BOVINE SMUGGLERS; PASSENGER BUS AMONG 02 VEHICLES SEIZED IN TWO DIFFERENT BOVINE SMUGGLING ATTEMPTS, RESCUES 14 BOVINES*

Samba: December 02, 2025: Tightening noose against bovine smugglers and their propagators, Samba Police has successfully foiled two bovine smuggling attempts in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal and rescued 14 bovines from the clutches of bovine smugglers. The vehicles Tata- 407 and a Passenger Bus have been seized which were being used by bovine smugglers for illegal transportation of bovines.

Acting on information received from reliable sources, a Police party of Police Station Ghagwal has successfully intercepted a passenger bus bearing registration No. JK02CN-9009 near FCI Chowk Suandha Jatwal and during checking, six bovines were found inside the bus which were being transported illegally in a cruel manner. Police has rescued the bovines and shifted them to a safer place. Due to the ongoing efforts of Samba Police to combat bovine smuggling in the district, bovine smugglers are now resorting to new modus operandi, uses Passenger Bus this time in an attempt to evade detection.

A case FIR No.113/2025 u/s 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started.

In another incident, a Police team of Police Station Ghagwal while performing vehicle checking duty at naka NHW Tapyal, signaled to stop a Tata-407 bearing registration No. JK02CS-2696 for checking. But the driver of the vehicle accelerated the speed and hit the vehicle with naka road barrier causing damage to it. The alert cops pursued and successfully intercepted the vehicle near Jatwal. During checking, eight bovines were found inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission.

A case FIR No. 112/2025 u/s 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act, 3 PDPP Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started.

DC Reasi Chairs Meeting to Review Stamp Duty Rates for 2026

Reasi, 01 December: Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik, IAS today chaired a meeting with officials of the Revenue Department and other concerned departments to deliberate on the revision of stamp duty rates for the year 2026.

The meeting witnessed the participation of ACR Nitin Verma, SDMs of Mahore, Dharmari and Katra, SE PWD, DFOs, GM DIC, and other concerned officers.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner conducted a comprehensive review of the existing stamp duty structure and discussed proposed modifications aimed at enhancing transparency, accuracy, and alignment with current market values. She stressed the need for a rational, data-driven approach to safeguard public interest and ensure that the revised rates reflect true market dynamics.

Officials from various departments shared valuable insights on valuation challenges, emerging growth trends, and measures to improve the precision of stamp duty assessments.

DC Reasi Malik called for strong interdepartmental coordination to ensure that the stamp duty rates for 2026 are fair, practical, and reflective of ground realities across the district.

DC Reasi Reviews JKRLM Progress; Calls for 100% Target Achievement and Inclusive SHG Coverage

Reasi, 28 November: - Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik, IAS today chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of the Jammu & Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM) in the district.

The DC reviewed key performance indicators of the Mission, including the formation and strengthening of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), bank linkage, livelihood generation activities, and the implementation of centrally sponsored livelihood schemes.

The Deputy Commissioner also took a detailed review of the implementation of the Lakhpati Didi initiative, emphasizing the need for focused planning, capacity-building, and convergence with line departments to achieve saturation across all blocks.

During the meeting, DC Reasi stressed that households with migrated members should be identified and added for the formation of SHGs, ensuring that no eligible family is left out of the Mission's benefits.
She further directed the officials to maintain updated and accurate data of all SHGs/SSGs for effective monitoring and timely support.

The Deputy Commissioner instructed the JKRLM officers to achieve 100% of the assigned targets, particularly in the formation of new SHGs/SSGs, financial inclusion, enterprise development, and coverage under the Lakhpati Didi programme. She urged the officers to intensify field visits and streamline coordination at the block level to meet these goals.

Officials briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the number of SHGs formed, progress in credit linkage, training programmes conducted, and market linkage support being provided to women-led enterprises.

She emphasized the need to identify successful SHG enterprises for replication and ensure robust handholding support so that women become financially empowered and self-reliant.

The meeting was attended by CPO Narinder Kumar, District Programme Manager Munisha, Block Programme Managers, and other concerned officials.
