How does someone become a global sports icon without changing the calm style that made millions notice him in the first place?

Turkish sharpshooter Yusuf Dikeç became one of the most recognizable athletes of the Paris 2024 Olympics after his relaxed shooting style captured worldwide attention.

At the Games, Dikeç won a silver medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. Unlike many competitors, he was seen shooting in a simple white T-shirt, using standard prescription glasses and keeping his non-shooting hand casually in his pocket.

His calm posture quickly became one of the most talked-about moments of the Olympics, turning the 52-year-old shooter into an internet sensation.

But Dikeç’s story did not stop with his Olympic success.

In 2025, he returned to competition in Istanbul for the ESC European Air Shooting Championships / Champions League, where he continued to compete with the same focused and composed style.

Dikeç teamed up with Mustafa İnan in the 10m Air Pistol Men’s Team event. The Turkish pair reached the final and defeated Germany to secure the gold medal on home soil.

For fans who first discovered him during Paris 2024, the victory offered another look at the skill behind the viral image.

Yusuf Dikeç’s journey shows that sometimes, staying calm, focused and true to your own style can become part of what makes an athlete unforgettable.

The image refers to Beachy Head, a famous chalk sea cliff in East Sussex, England.

At 162 meters (531 feet) above sea level, it is the highest chalk sea cliff in Britain.

The nickname "Where the Earth Ends" is not an official geographical name, but a poetic description often used when unusual weather conditions occur.

During a cloud inversion, low clouds or fog fill the land and sea below the cliff while the summit remains clear.

From the top, it can look as if the cliff rises above a vast ocean of clouds, creating the illusion that the land suddenly ends at the edge of the world.

The striking white cliffs were formed from microscopic marine organisms that accumulated on the seabed during the Late Cretaceous period, around 70–100 million years ago.

Today, Beachy Head and the nearby Seven Sisters cliffs are among England's most photographed coastal landscapes.
