**Public Service Initiative Witnesses Overwhelming Community Participation**
Samba, September 17, 2025 - The inaugural ceremony of Seva Parv was celebrated with great enthusiasm and community spirit at the historic Samba Fort today, marking the beginning of a comprehensive public service initiative aimed at fostering civic engagement and social welfare across the district.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Surjit Singh Slathia and Guest of Honour DC Samba Ayushi Sudan, IAS, who formally launched the ambitious program designed to strengthen the bond between government and citizens through active participation in community development activities.
The Seva Parv initiative encompasses seven key activity domains including cleanliness drives and environmental action, education-focused initiatives, engagement with elderly and vulnerable sections, health and nutrition programs, awareness and capacity building workshops, cultural activities, and comprehensive social media campaigns for public outreach.
The inaugural event witnessed remarkable participation from various government departments including Health, Agriculture, Social Welfare, Rural Development, Handicrafts and Handloom among others, who set up informative stalls showcasing their beneficiary products and creating widespread public awareness about welfare schemes available to citizens. These interactive exhibitions served as vital bridges between government services and community needs, ensuring maximum outreach and accessibility.
A symbolic tree plantation drive was conducted as part of the environmental action component, with all dignitaries and participants taking the Seva Parv pledge to actively contribute to nation-building through voluntary service. The ceremony emphasized the spirit of ‘Sewa’ as enshrined in the program’s philosophy, encouraging every citizen to become an active participant in community development.
The event featured engaging Nukkad Natak performances that conveyed important social messages through traditional folk theater, making government policies and social awareness campaigns more accessible to the common people. A comprehensive health camp was organized on-site, providing free medical check-ups and health consultations to attendees, directly implementing the health and nutrition initiatives outlined in the government directive.
The public outreach mela created a festive atmosphere where citizens could interact directly with government officials, understand various welfare schemes, and participate in capacity-building workshops designed to enhance digital literacy and awareness about government programs including PM Kisan, Ayushman Bharat, and Jan Dhan Yojana among others.
Addressing the gathering, the Honourable MLA emphasized the transformative potential of Seva Parv in creating a more responsive and participatory governance model. The initiative represents a paradigm shift towards community-driven development, where every citizen becomes a stakeholder in the progress of their region.
The comprehensive program, coordinated by multiple departments including Housing & Urban Development, Rural Development, Forest Ecology & Environment, Social Welfare, Health & Medical Education, Agriculture Production, Skill Development, Information Technology, and Handicrafts and Handloom, demonstrates the government’s commitment to integrated and inclusive development.
Seva Parv will continue throughout the designated period with regular activities across all participating departments, ensuring sustained community engagement and measurable impact on social welfare indicators. The initiative is expected to strengthen grassroots democracy while fostering a culture of voluntary service and civic responsibility among citizens.
The overwhelming response to today’s inaugural ceremony reflects the community’s enthusiasm for participatory governance and their commitment to contributing actively to the region’s development through the spirit of selfless service.
