DC Samba Inaugurates Massive Plantation Drive at Cremation Ground Samba

Samba, September 18:
As part of the ongoing Seva Parv 2025, Deputy Commissioner Samba, Ms. Ayushi Sudan, IAS, inaugurated a massive plantation drive at the Cremation Ground, Samba. The initiative was organized by the District Administration Samba in coordination with Lions Club Samba, under the Presidentship of Lion Surinder Mishra.

During the inaugural ceremony, DC Samba planted three saplings of significant spiritual and medicinal value, symbolizing both ecological responsibility and cultural reverence. Officials from the district administration and members of Lions Club Samba also participated by planting trees across the premises of the cremation ground.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Samba highlighted the importance of community-driven green initiatives, stressing that plantation drives not only enhance the environment but also reflect a commitment towards sustainable development and collective responsibility.

The event marks an important component of Seva Parv 2025, which began yesterday, focusing on Seva (service), Swachhta (cleanliness), and Samarpan (dedication). The plantation drive at the cremation ground has been envisioned as a model for combining environmental conservation with cultural and social values, encouraging citizens to actively take part in greening efforts.

The drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from officers of the district administration, members of Lions Club Samba, and local citizens, making it a collective step towards a cleaner and greener tomorrow.

Prominent among those present were ADC Samba Jagdish Singh, ACR Ajay Bharti, GM DIC Gurpreet Singh, CEO MC Samba Yodhraj, other officers, members of Lions Club, and local citizens.

*SAMBA POLICE SEIZED 'KHAIR' WOODEN LOGS ILLEGALLY LYING IN THE OPEN FIELD IN GORAN AREA OF PS SAMBA*

Samba, September 17, 2025: Samba Police has recovered and seized 'Khair' wooden logs in the jurisdiction of Police Post Goran falling under PS Samba which were illegally dumped in the open field.

Acting on information received from reliable sources, a team of Police Post Goran of PS Samba during patrolling near Dhalote village Daveka found an illegal pile of 'Khair' wooden logs lying in the open field of one Chain Singh S/o Rashal Singh R/o village Daveka. The police have seized all the 47 Nos. of 'Khair' wooden logs which were cut & stolen from forest land by some unknown persons and illegally dumped in the open field.

A case FIR No.238/2025 u/s 303(2) BNS, 26 Indian Forest Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started.

**Public Service Initiative Witnesses Overwhelming Community Participation**

Samba, September 17, 2025 - The inaugural ceremony of Seva Parv was celebrated with great enthusiasm and community spirit at the historic Samba Fort today, marking the beginning of a comprehensive public service initiative aimed at fostering civic engagement and social welfare across the district.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Surjit Singh Slathia and Guest of Honour DC Samba Ayushi Sudan, IAS, who formally launched the ambitious program designed to strengthen the bond between government and citizens through active participation in community development activities.

The Seva Parv initiative encompasses seven key activity domains including cleanliness drives and environmental action, education-focused initiatives, engagement with elderly and vulnerable sections, health and nutrition programs, awareness and capacity building workshops, cultural activities, and comprehensive social media campaigns for public outreach.

The inaugural event witnessed remarkable participation from various government departments including Health, Agriculture, Social Welfare, Rural Development, Handicrafts and Handloom among others, who set up informative stalls showcasing their beneficiary products and creating widespread public awareness about welfare schemes available to citizens. These interactive exhibitions served as vital bridges between government services and community needs, ensuring maximum outreach and accessibility.

A symbolic tree plantation drive was conducted as part of the environmental action component, with all dignitaries and participants taking the Seva Parv pledge to actively contribute to nation-building through voluntary service. The ceremony emphasized the spirit of ‘Sewa’ as enshrined in the program’s philosophy, encouraging every citizen to become an active participant in community development.

The event featured engaging Nukkad Natak performances that conveyed important social messages through traditional folk theater, making government policies and social awareness campaigns more accessible to the common people. Today on 17-09-2025 On the occasion of Sewa Parva, the Office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Samba, in collaboration with the District Administration Samba, set up an awareness stall highlighting the schemes and benefits offered by the Jammu & Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB).

As part of the event, Hon’ble MLA Samba, Sh. Surjeet Singh Salathia, and Worthy Deputy Commissioner Samba, Ms. Ayushi Sudan (IAS), disbursed an amount of ₹20,80,000 to 460 beneficiaries under the JKBOCWWB Education Assistance Scheme. The disbursement was carried out in the presence of Miss Himani Jerath, Assistant Labour Commissioner Samba.

While addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble MLA emphasized the importance of increasing awareness about the Labour Card, so that a maximum number of workers can register themselves and avail the welfare benefits under various schemes of the Board.

सुम्ब ब्लॉक के बलेतर पंचायत में 200 KVA ट्रांसफार्मर स्थापित, स्थानीय विधायक का जताया आभार

सुम्ब, 17 सितम्बर।
सुम्ब ब्लॉक की बलेतर पंचायत सुम्ब में 200 KVA का नया ट्रांसफार्मर स्थापित कर दिया गया है। इससे लगभग 200 से 250 परिवारों को लाभ मिलेगा और लंबे समय से चली आ रही बिजली समस्या का समाधान होगा।

इससे पहले यहां 100 KVA का ट्रांसफार्मर लगा हुआ था, जो जरूरत के हिसाब से छोटा पड़ रहा था और बार-बार फाल्ट की समस्या आ रही थी।

स्थानीय लोगों ने इस कार्य में सहयोग और पहल के लिए विधायक श्री सुरजीत सिंह सालाथिया का विशेष रूप से आभार व्यक्त किया है। उनका कहना है कि विधायक जी की मदद से ही यह ट्रांसफार्मर समय पर स्थापित हो सका, जिससे शुभलाभ समेत आसपास के लोगों को बड़ी राहत मिली है।

निवासियों ने विभागीय अधिकारियों और कर्मचारियों से अपील की है कि बिजली आपूर्ति को बेहतर बनाए रखने के लिए पूरी जिम्मेदारी से कार्य करें।

Sports Department Samba Launches Major Inter-Zonal Tournament Promoting Youth Excellence and Drug-Free Society

The District Youth Services and Sports Office Samba, operating under the distinguished guidance of Director General Anuradha Gupta, JKAS, has successfully launched a comprehensive Inter-Zonal District Level multi-sport tournament featuring Badminton, Yoga, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Judo, Chess, and Cricket competitions for Under-19 boys and girls, marking a significant milestone in the district’s commitment to youth development and sports excellence. The prestigious tournament, meticulously organized across the Indoor Sports Stadium Samba and Rani Suchet Singh Sports Stadium Samba, represents a strategic initiative to harness youthful energy through competitive sports while simultaneously addressing critical social challenges facing contemporary society.

On the second day of this remarkable sporting extravaganza, Manager Sports Council Samba, Sh. Dalbir Kumar Mehta, along with other distinguished officials, witnessed exceptional displays of athletic prowess and competitive spirit from over 211 dedicated participants representing five zones across Samba district, despite challenging hot climate conditions that tested both physical endurance and mental resilience. The tournament has attracted substantial participation across diverse sporting disciplines, with 53 participants each in boys’ and girls’ Kho-Kho categories, 38 in Kabaddi, 26 in Cricket, 20 in Badminton, 13 in Yoga, 7 in Chess, and 1 in Judo, demonstrating the broad-based sporting interest and talent pool available within the district’s youth demographic.

The event has been exemplarily supervised by DYSSO Samba Sh. Dharmvir Singh, working in close coordination with the Zonal Physical Education Officer Samba, ensuring seamless ex*****on and maintaining the highest standards of competitive integrity throughout the tournament proceedings. Beyond its sporting significance, the tournament has evolved into a powerful platform for social messaging, with Sh. Dalbir Kumar Mehta delivering motivational addresses to participants while emphasizing the critical importance of drug awareness and the collective responsibility to eliminate drug trade from society, thereby creating a drug-free environment conducive to healthy youth development.

A notable feature of this tournament has been the administration of a comprehensive pledge ceremony wherein all participants committed to increased sports participation while simultaneously vowing to abstain from drugs, effectively transforming the sporting event into a broader social movement for positive youth engagement. The District Youth Services and Sports Officer Samba has expressed heartfelt appreciation for the participants’ dedication and exemplary sportsmanship, which continues to elevate the tournament’s prestige and contribute to its resounding success in promoting both athletic excellence and social responsibility among the district’s youth population.
