Rapid ice melt in Antarctica and the Arctic is driving ocean freshening and rising sea levels, threatening low-lying coastal areas worldwide. These changes are also slowing heat transfer and ocean circulation, which could disrupt weather patterns and marine ecosystems. Experts stressed that existing conservation efforts are inadequate, urging stronger action and better use of international instruments. They highlighted the urgent need for enhanced research, data sharing, and predictive capabilities to safeguard global communities.

MPA Hosts Teachers’ Day Celebration for Port-Run Schools

Vasco, Sept 17: The Mormugao Port Trust Education Society (MPTES) celebrated Teachers’ Day with a felicitation programme honouring teachers of Deepvihar Primary, High, Higher Secondary, and New Dawn Ashadeep Special School. Prof. Dr. Harilal B. Menon, Vice Chancellor of Goa University, graced the event as Chief Guest, along with MPA Chairperson Dr. N. Vinodkumar and Dy. Chairperson Shri Vinayaka Rao. Teachers were felicitated for their dedication and contributions, while Prof. Menon delivered an inspiring address on the power of education. As a part of , Office of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Dharbandora Taluka organized a Consumer Awareness Camp at Matoshri Anandibai Vaman Marathe Vidyamandir, Dharbandora, Goa.

Dr. Gaurav Gopal Naik, Assistant Director of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs elaborated on key topics like consumer rights, online shopping safety, cybercrime, misleading ads, and how to reach the National Consumer Helpline. The students were also made aware of issues like service charges and other common consumer concerns. To ensure the message was spread, IEC materials were handed out to both students and teachers.
