GBEA Kupwara Delegation Meets MP Ghulam Ali Khatana, Submits Memorandum On Employees’ Issues.
Kupwara, June 5: A delegation of the Gujjar Bakarwal Employees Association Jammu & Kashmir–Union Territory (GBEA JK-UT), Kupwara Unit, called on Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Ch. Ghulam Ali Khatana and submitted a detailed memorandum highlighting several long-pending issues concerning government employees, particularly those serving in remote, border, and tribal areas.
The delegation was led by District President Ch. Altaf Hussain Chachi along with Organiser JK-UT Ch. Mushtaq Ahmed Theikri and prominent social activist Choudhary Farooq.
During the meeting, the representatives apprised the MP of the hardships and challenges faced by employees belonging to the Scheduled Tribe community and those serving in departments such as Education, Health, PHE, PDD, RDD, Forest, and other sectors across Kupwara district and various parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
The memorandum raised several key demands, including the regularization of daily wagers, timely Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs) and promotions, a fair transfer policy for employees serving in difficult and hard areas, resolution of pay anomalies, addressing staff shortages in tribal regions, and effective implementation of reservation benefits in promotions.
Speaking during the interaction, MP Ch. Ghulam Ali Khatana gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured them that all genuine concerns of employees would be taken up at the appropriate forums for early redressal.
He appreciated the dedication of employees working in challenging terrains and reaffirmed his support for safeguarding their rights and dignity.
Choudhary Farooq, Social Activist, while speaking on the occasion, highlighted the issues and concerns of the Gujjar-Bakarwal community, particularly those residing in far-flung, border, and tribal areas.
He emphasized the need for strengthening educational opportunities, employment avenues, and welfare measures for the community.
He also urged the government to ensure effective implementation of constitutional safeguards and developmental schemes aimed at uplifting tribal populations.
Farooq stressed that government employees working in remote regions play a crucial role in delivering essential services to the public despite numerous challenges and deserve timely redressal of their genuine grievances.
He appreciated the efforts of GBEA JK-UT in raising employees' issues through democratic means and expressed hope that the concerns highlighted in the memorandum would receive due attention from the authorities.
Following the meeting, Ch. Altaf Hussain Chachi, Ch. Mushtaq Ahmed Theikri, and Choudhary Farooq expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble MP for his positive response and reiterated GBEA JK-UT’s commitment to working for the welfare, empowerment, and dignity of employees, particularly those belonging to the Gujjar-Bakarwal community.
The association stated that it will continue to raise employees’ concerns through democratic and constitutional means to ensure justice and better service conditions for workers across the Union Territory.
