Assam Rifles Jawan Martyred in Militant Attack at India-Myanmar Border, Changlang

An Assam Rifles patrol team came under attack early Tuesday morning near Nampong Nallah, Nampong Circle, Changlang District, Arunachal Pradesh along the India-Myanmar border.

📍 Location: Nampong Nallah, border fencing work area
⏰ Time: Around 6:30 AM, 29 Sept 2026
🪖 Unit: 21 Assam Rifles on patrol duty
💔 Martyred: *Havildar Jankhokai Kuki (42)*
🤕 Injured: 4 personnel — evacuated for medical treatment
⚠️ Suspected group: NSCN (K-YA) faction (preliminary reports, official confirmation awaited)

An Assam Rifles jawan was killed and four others injured when suspected militants opened fire on the patrol team. The incident took place near Nampong Nallah when personnel were patrolling an area where border fencing work is underway. Preliminary reports suggest involvement of militants belonging to NSCN (K-YA).

Security forces have intensified operations in the area following the attack. Changlang SP Kirli Padu has directed police to collect details.
