Mr. Ashok Doka has been declared the President of the All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) for the 2024–27 session by six Nyishi belt district student unions following a joint meeting held on February 15, 2026.
Representatives from key Nyishi-inhabited districts — Papum Pare, Kurung Kumey, Kra Daadi, Keyi Panyor, Kamle, and Pakke Kessang — convened to deliberate on the leadership, representation, and continuity of ANSU’s functioning. After thorough discussions and assessment of prevailing circumstances, the house collectively resolved to recognize Ashok Doka as President for the ongoing tenure.
The development comes amid ongoing controversy, as Lezen Gyadi was earlier elected President for the same session, winning by a narrow margin of 91 votes over Ashok Doka. The election process had reportedly been marred by violence and procedural disagreements.
To ensure fairness and transparency, the Nyishi Elite Society (NES) had earlier constituted a Former ANSU Leaders Forum to oversee the electoral process and safeguard democratic values within the organization.
