Sonam Wangchuk Was In Touch With Pakistani Official': Ladakh DGP Defends Climate Activist's Arrest In Wake Of Violence.
Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk was in touch with a Pakistani Intelligence Officer who was arrested recently, Director General of Police (DGP) Ladakh, Dr SD Singh Jamwal, said on Saturday.
During a press conference in Leh, DGP Jamwal said that the PIO was in touch with him and was reporting back to Pakistan. DGP Jamwal also claimed that he had visited a Dwan event in Pakistan and visited Bangladesh, which raises big question.
Sonam Wangchuk has had a history of instigating. He has referred to the Arab Spring, Nepal and Bangladesh. The investigation into his funding is going on for FCRA violation," the DGP added.
On the question of foreign involvement, DGP Jamwal said, "This is a matter of investigation. But the first day when the injured were shifted, there were 2-3 Nepalis with bullet injuries admitted to the hospital. After their verification, 2-3 more such elements have come out. Three were confirmed to be Nepali nationals and were admitted in the hospital."
DGP Jamwal also accused Wangchuk of trying to derail the talks with the Centre. During the press briefing, he said, "An unfortunate incident occurred on September 24. Four lives were lost, and a large number of civilians, police officers and paramilitary officers were injured. There were attempts to sabotage these ongoing processes (talks with the Centre)."
