Google plans to invest ₹51,000 crore (about $6 billion) to build Asia's largest data centre in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, marking its largest data centre investment in India.
This project is part of Alphabet's broader strategy to invest ₹6.37 lakh crore ($75 billion) in expanding its global data centre network by 2025.
The Visakhapatnam facility will have a 1 gigawatt (GW) capacity and significant renewable energy infrastructure, with ₹17,000 crore ($2 billion) dedicated to clean energy.
It aims to support extensive cloud computing and AI applications, classifying it as a "hyperscale" facility capable of handling vast data storage for millions of users.
This investment highlights India's growing importance in the global cloud computing and AI sectors, positioning it strategically amid economic uncertainties and changing global trade policies.
