The demonstration attracted widespread attention across social media and political circles, with participants raising slogans and voicing concerns over issues linked to the education sector. Organizers described the event as a public expression of dissatisfaction, while observers debated whether the turnout reflected broader public sentiment or support concentrated within the movement itself. A self-styled spiritual guru, identified as Abhishek Mishra alias Aadikarta Narayan Das, was arrested in Mathura following serious allegations of sexual exploitation, blackmail, and intimidation. Police claim the accused, an IIT-Roorkee graduate, used social media and spiritual discourses to attract followers, particularly educated young women. According to the complaint, a victim was allegedly given intoxicant-laced milk presented as prasad, after which she was assaulted and secretly recorded. One of India's most powerful regional parties is fracturing in real time , and the fallout could reshape national opposition politics.

After a crushing defeat in the West Bengal elections, TMC faces an unprecedented twin revolt: 58 of 80 TMC MLAs defied the party to elect expelled MLA Ritabrata Banerjee as Leader of the Opposition, while nearly 20 TMC MPs, including Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Yusuf Pathan, and Shatrughan Sinha announced support for the BJP-led NDA.

Amid the chaos, Abhishek Banerjee drove to 10 Janpath for a 90-minute meeting with Rahul Gandhi, with sources on both sides describing the discussion as focused on a "united fight against the BJP." The meeting instantly triggered feverish speculation about a possible

TMC-Congress merger, with some reports even suggesting Mamata had been offered the post of Congress Vice President. (The Federal)
However, TMC's Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly firmly ruled out any merger, stating that MLAs, MPs, and local body representatives have no plans to join Congress.

The rebellion is real. The merger talk is unconfirmed. But the crisis inside TMC is undeniable, and its next move will matter far beyond West Bengal.

Over 150 students came to university to build a future. A hostel meal sent them to the hospital instead.

More than 150 students of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology in Pantnagar, Uttarakhand, fell ill after consuming a hostel dinner that included chicken and paneer. Students reported vomiting, stomach pain, and nausea, requiring emergency medical treatment.

Health officials have since collected food samples and launched an investigation to determine the exact cause. Most students are reported to be stable, but parents are demanding accountability, and the university has assured full cooperation with the inquiry.

A meal that should have been routine became a medical emergency. The question now is: who is responsible for what students are being served, and why did it take 150 sick students to find out?

He was 18. His only crime, in their eyes, was who he loved.

Ketan Lal, a Dalit teenager from Deval village in Uttarakhand's Tehri Garhwal district, was beaten to death after he visited the home of a girl he had been friends with for six months.

When he arrived with a friend, they were allegedly confined to a room and assaulted with sticks through the night. His friend Diwakar Dimri survived but is currently hospitalised.

Police have arrested the girl's father, Yashbir Singh Panwar, and grandfather, Vidyadutt Panwar. A murder case has been registered along with charges under Section 3(2)(v) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

The victim's family has described the attack as a grave act of caste-based injustice and is demanding strict, exemplary punishment for all those responsible.

In 2026, a young man was killed for having a friendship. Caste violence is not history. It is happening now.

A guest teacher posted at a government school in Rohtak district, Haryana, has been suspended shortly after joining service. The action reportedly came after the teacher participated in a protest held at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on June 6. The demonstration was organized by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and drew attention on social media. Authorities are examining whether participation in the protest violated service rules applicable to government-employed educators. The incident has sparked debate over public servants' involvement in political activities and the limits of freedom of expression while holding government positions. Further departmental proceedings may follow.

A major healthcare controversy has surfaced in Kota, Rajasthan, following the reported deaths of five pregnant women after childbirth-related surgeries at a government hospital. Preliminary investigations revealed that a batch of oxytocin injections, commonly used to prevent excessive bleeding after delivery, allegedly failed quality tests and may have lacked the required active ingredient. The suspect batch was supplied to the New Medical College Hospital and has since been withdrawn from use across the state. Authorities have initiated a high-level inquiry to examine the drug supply chain, regulatory oversight, and hospital practices while determining whether the injections contributed to the tragic fatalities.

A fitness centre in Palakkad, Kerala, has drawn widespread attention after promoting itself as an Islam-friendly gym operating under faith-sensitive guidelines. The proposed model included gender-segregated workout schedules, restrictions on public music, and modest dress expectations for female members. The announcement quickly went viral, leading to intense discussions on religious accommodation, inclusivity, and the role of faith-based practices in commercial establishments. 1.4 billion people. Surrounded by family. And still, the second loneliest country on earth.

A June 2026 global study examining emotional well-being and social isolation across 36 countries ranked India second on the loneliness index, with a score of 89, just behind Turkey, which topped the list at 100.

The study found that 58% of Indians report feeling lonely, 34% experience isolation, and 37% frequently feel sadness, the highest sadness rate among the top-ranked countries.

The numbers challenge a deeply held assumption: that big families and close-knit communities automatically shield people from loneliness.

The reality is that loneliness among India's youth has been rising gradually in urban areas, long before it became impossible to ignore. During the pandemic, 40% of urban Indians reported feeling more isolated despite being online constantly.

More followers. Fewer real conversations. More family members under one roof. Less emotional connection.
The WHO now classifies loneliness as a public health crisis comparable to smoking or obesity.

India is living proof that being surrounded by people doesn't mean you're not alone.
