Being out in nature with the kids is heaven
We drank raw milk, collected firewood, fried eggs over a wood fire on a cast iron pan, nurtured the flames, observed dry leaves burst into bright flashes, enjoyed the warmth of the fire against the cool December breeze, and just enjoyed each others company minus the constant nagging of the Internet and the phone.

Behind the scenes: Blooper alert!

A little bit of back story: I had this idea for content that I wanted to create a reel about. Before you actually shoot, it’s good to do a test recording to get an idea of how the final may look.

What can I improve in this?:
1. Lighting
2. Camera angle
3. Clarity of message
4. Shoot in an air conditioned room (It’s hot in Goa right now)
5. Use a better mic/clean up the audio in post.
6. Add subtitles
7. Add graphics
8. Add music.

Proud of this amazing house my lovely wife made for our son Kian for the Fancy Dress competition at his Nursery.

Throw back to the effort, love and care our parents put into us while raising us up. What I still can’t come to understand is how some people (and I’ve read that a lot of people in the US do this, compared to India) completely disconnect from their parents and leave them to fend for themselves. Yes, we get it that no parent is perfect, and some are also pretty terrible, but what about culture that’s developed in some segments of society in the US and other westernized nations makes it okay to completely disregard your own parents?

Now I’m not saying many people do it, or that it’s common in the US, but I am saying that I hardly heard about this in India.

This image is from a couple of years ago. I was in the unique position of being a student and teacher at the same time.
I joined a course in Technical Entrepreneurship Development at the Center for Business Acceleration at Father Agnel’s institute in Assagao, Goa.
While I was a student for all of the courses, I had the opportunity to teach the video production module.

One thing that keeps amazing me is how much you learn when you commit to teaching others. Because you have to teach, your time in preparation and elucidating your knowledge to others can deliver some golden moments of clarity. In order to teach some complicated and technical concepts when it comes to photography, I had to break it into simple to understand ideas… what surprised me is that I was able to come up with these concepts on the stop, spontaneously.

Each man is made differently, and when you put yourself in different situations, you learn more about who you are.

I’m happy to say that I am still in touch with many from that batch!
