If Prime Minister Modi has even half the courage of Indira Gandhi, he should come to Parliament and clearly say that we did not lose any aircraft, and that the ceasefire was not done by Trump.: on

Discussion on Operation Sindoor | Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi says, "There is a second very important thing that he said, maybe he didn't mean to say this. He also said that he told the Pakistanis that we are not going to hit any of your military infrastructure...I said freedom of manoeuvre - freedom to the Air Force. Captain Shiv Kumar, defence attaché Indonesia, says; I may not agree with him that India lost so many aircraft but I do agree that we did lose some aircraft. That happened only because of the constraint given by the political leadership to not attack the military establishment and their air defence. You went into Pakistan, you attacked Pakistan and you told our pilots - do not attack their air defence system..."

School Transport Under Scanner: ARTO Anantnag Warns Against Unfit Vehicles

Anantnag, July 29: Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Anantnag, Mubashir Jaan, on Tuesday conducted a special enforcement drive targeting school transport vehicles to ensure compliance with safety norms.

ARTO Mubashir Jaan said that many school vehicles were found with worn-out seats and in poor condition, posing a risk to students. He stressed that all school vehicles must strictly adhere to AIS 063 safety protocols designed for passenger and school transport.

“Only fit vehicles shall be allowed on the roads. Any unfit vehicles found operating will be seized and penalised strictly as per the Motor Vehicles Act,” Jaan said.

He further stated that such drives will continue across the district to ensure the safety and comfort of school-going children. (JKNS)

Govt Forms Panel to Probe Cracks on Bemina Flyover in Srinagar

Srinagar, July 29, KNT: Alarmed by the emergence of cracks on the Bemina Flyover, an important segment of the Srinagar-Baramulla Highway Bypass, the Jammu and Kashmir government has constituted a high-level committee to investigate the issue in detail. The decision comes amid public concerns over the safety and stability of the flyover, which caters to thousands of vehicles daily.

According to a government order issued under No. 989-JK(GAD) of 2025, the committee will be chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar and includes top engineers and officials from various departments. The panel has been mandated to examine, assess, and report on the nature and cause of the cracks and to recommend necessary corrective measures.

The committee includes senior officials from the Public Works (R&B) Department, Srinagar Smart City Limited, Design Inspection and Quality Control Department, and Traffic Police Srinagar. Additionally, a structural expert from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar has been roped in to provide technical insight. The chairman has also been given the discretion to co-opt any additional experts or members deemed necessary for the investigation.

The flyover, part of the city’s crucial highway infrastructure, has recently drawn public attention after visible cracks appeared on its surface, raising fears of possible structural compromise. Local commuters, residents, and civil society groups have called for urgent intervention to ensure the flyover remains safe and serviceable.

Officials said the newly formed panel will conduct a thorough structural evaluation and submit a detailed report. [KNT]

Kashmir Mutton Dealers Meet MP Rahullah Mehdi in Delhi, Seek Intervention Against Punjab Border Extortion

New Delhi, July 29, KNT: A delegation of mutton dealers from Kashmir Valley met Member of Parliament Aga Syed Rahullah Mehdi in New Delhi to voice serious concerns over alleged extortion and harassment of livestock transporters at key border points in Punjab. The dealers sought urgent intervention to end what they describe as systematic exploitation of truckers ferrying sheep and goats to the Valley.

Led by Mutton Dealers Association General Secretary Mehrajuddin Ganaie, the delegation highlighted the difficulties faced by dealers due to illegal demands for money at Shambu Border and Madhavpur in Punjab. Ganaie informed the MP that the extortion has not only disrupted the flow of livestock into Kashmir but also severely impacted their livelihood.

“Truckers are being stopped, delayed, and coerced into paying large sums of money at these checkpoints. This is not just unfair, it’s strangling the supply chain and raising the cost of mutton in Kashmir,” Ganaie told the MP.

The dealers expressed frustration over the lack of concrete action despite repeated appeals to the concerned authorities, forcing them to escalate the matter to the national level.

MP Aga Syed Rahullah Mehdi gave the delegation a patient hearing and assured them that the matter would be pursued both at the administrative and legislative levels. “I will take up this issue with the Punjab Government and also raise it with my fellow parliamentarians,” he said, stressing that such extortion practices were unacceptable and must be dealt with firmly.
