Minister Sakina Itoo chaired a high-level district meeting in Srinagar attended by MLAs and heads of departments. She directed officers to expedite all pending projects, stressing strict timelines and accountability to ensure public convenience. The meeting also reviewed basic civic facilities, road connectivity, healthcare, and educational infrastructure. Special focus was laid on preventive measures against flood-like situations witnessed in the past, with directions to strengthen drainage and disaster management mechanisms. Itoo emphasized coordination among departments for effective service delivery and assured that the government is fully committed to the holistic development of Srinagar city, addressing both present challenges and future needs.
Srinagar || Minister Sakina Itoo has taken a sharp jibe at her party colleague, Member of Parliament Aga Ruhullah Mehdi, urging him to focus on his parliamentary responsibilities rather than criticising the NC-led government.
Itoo reminded that Ruhullah contested and won on the NC ticket, entrusted by the people to raise their concerns in Parliament. “Now he is pointing fingers at us. He should instead raise people’s issues in the Parliament that he deems crucial,” she remarked. Itoo stressed that Ruhullah must fulfil his role as a parliamentarian, highlighting core issues of Jammu and Kashmir at the national level instead of targeting his own party’s government.
Minister Sakina Itoo intensified her criticism of PDP president Mehbooba M***i, saying the latter’s contradictory statements expose political double standards. “On one hand she blames Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for everything, and on the other hand she rushes to the Lieutenant Governor for her own family’s matters,” Itoo said. She questioned why Mehbooba sought intervention for her daughter’s recommendation if Omar Abdullah indeed held absolute authority. Itoo added that the PDP leadership is deliberately misleading the public for political mileage instead of addressing genuine issues faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The remarks underline the deepening rift between the ruling National Conference and the opposition PDP, with personal and political allegations heightening the political atmosphere in the Valley.
