PDP's Mir Sheeraz welcomes the action
Baramulla 29 November; Mir Sheeraz PDP District vice President Baramulla said that these units had been functioning without any mandatory NOC and had created severe environmental havoc in the area. “The unchecked and illegal operations had triggered alarming levels of dust pollution, noise disturbance, and ecological degradation. The people of Nowshera and around were suffering immensely,” he said.
Mir Sheeraz revealed that the local residents had repeatedly approached the concerned MLA, but he failed to come to their rescue and paid no heed to this grave issue, leaving the community distressed and unheard.
He thanked the District Administration Baramulla, PDP District President Baramulla Mohd Rafique Rather, and the media fraternity for their vibrant role in highlighting the matter. Mir Sheeraz specifically appreciated DP Baramulla Mohd Rafique Rather for his efforts in taking the issue to the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, whose immediate intervention led to the closure of the illegal units.
He further stressed that such unauthorized establishments cannot be allowed to operate at the cost of public health and the environment. “Rule of law must prevail. Development projects cannot be permitted to turn into sources of pollution and public misery,” he added.
Mir Sheeraz also warned the company executing the NH widening project from Baramulla to Uri to strictly follow pollution control norms. “Any lapse in environmental management—be it dust, waste, or noise—has a direct bearing on the health of local residents. Strict monitoring is essential,” he said.
He urged authorities to conduct regular inspections, enforce environmental regulations, and ensure that violators are held fully accountable to prevent such incidents in the future.
