Lal Bazaar, 3rd October 2026: In a significant development, Srinagar MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi has taken up the long-pending demand for establishment of a Fire Service Post at Lal Bazaar, formally writing to the Director General, Fire & Emergency Services, Jammu & Kashmir.

The letter, dated 3 October 2026, requests that a Fire Service Post be established at Lal Bazaar, Srinagar, considering the requirements of the area. The MP has further stated that once the Fire Service Post is established, the matter can be taken up for sanctioning a dedicated Mini Fire Tender for Lal Bazaar as well.

The letter comes as the demand for dedicated fire-service infrastructure in Lal Bazaar continues to be pursued by residents.

A fresh push has now come directly from the Srinagar MP, with the matter placed before the DG, Fire & Emergency Services for necessary action on priority.

Lal Bazaar, 2nd October 2026: Residents of Lal Bazaar have urged the J&K Government to expedite the process for establishing a dedicated D-Class Fire & Emergency Services Station in the area, calling for immediate sanctioning/transfer of the identified Housing Land and completion of the remaining financial formalities.

The demand has gained renewed urgency amid repeated fire incidents in the densely populated locality, where narrow lanes can make emergency response challenging. Residents have been raising the demand for a dedicated fire station for years.

Residents have appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq to personally intervene and ensure that the pending land and financial formalities are completed without further delay, paving the way for the establishment of the long-awaited facility.

The demand for a fire station in Lal Bazaar has previously been raised before MLA Tanvir Sadiq, who had stated in December 2025 that land was being pursued with the Housing Department and that the matter was under active consideration.

With other areas now receiving support for strengthening fire-fighting infrastructure, residents say Lal Bazaar should also receive similar priority, given its population density, congested lanes and recurring fire incidents.

Residents now seek a clear timeline for the land transfer, completion of financial formalities and commencement of the Fire Station project.

Housing Colony Lal Bazaar, 30th September 26: Residents of Lal Bazaar have expressed their gratitude to the administration and the concerned power authorities following the removal of the years-old concrete electricity poles that had been lying dumped along the roadside near the Receiving Station, Lal Bazaar.

The issue had been persistently taken up by the Lal Bazaar Delegation, led by Chairperson Er. Mohammad Imran, along with Mohammad Issac Bhat, Mudasir Magrey and others before the concerned authorities.

Following the delegation's intervention, the Chief Engineer, KPDCL Er. Nisar Ahmad Lone and the concerned Executive Engineer (XEN) took cognisance of the matter, leading to action on the ground and the shifting/removal of the dumped poles.

Residents have welcomed the prompt response and expressed their appreciation to the administration, particularly the Chief Engineer, PDD, and the concerned XEN, for addressing the long-pending public concern.

The development has also been appreciated as an example of how persistent representation by residents and timely intervention by the administration can help resolve long-standing civic issues on the ground.

The Lal Bazaar Delegation has maintained that it will continue to raise genuine public concerns with the concerned authorities and follow them up until tangible action is taken.

Lal Bazaar, 27th September 26: The long-pending issue of concrete electricity poles lying dumped along the roadside near the Receiving Station, Lal Bazar, has finally received the attention of the concerned authorities following persistent efforts by a delegation from Lal Bazar.

The delegation, led by Er. Mohammad Imran Ashraf Mughloo, President, Intezamia Committee Masjid Sidiqi, Lal Bazar, along with Mohammad Issac Bhat, Mudasir Magrey took up the matter with the concerned authorities and sought immediate removal of the years-old concrete poles that have remained dumped along the roadside.

Following the delegation’s persistent representations, the concerned KPDCL authorities assured that the dumped poles would be removed within one week. The delegation has welcomed the assurance while making it clear that the matter will be followed up until the promised action is completed on the ground.

The delegation maintained that such long-pending public issues require timely intervention, particularly where dumped material occupies roadside space and poses inconvenience to pedestrians and commuters.

The delegation also expressed its sincere gratitude to Mr. Sukh Dev Singh, Special Secretary to the Government, for his support and prompt attention towards the genuine concern raised by the residents of Lal Bazar.

The delegation stated that it will continue to take up genuine public grievances with the concerned authorities and pursue them until concrete action and visible results are achieved on the ground.
