Tangdhar, Kupwara:
In a swift and coordinated operation, the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Border Security Force (BSF) successfully thwarted a narcotics smuggling attempt in Tangdhar under the banner of Operation Hajitra.
Acting on credible intelligence inputs from Police Station Taad, a joint search operation was launched in Hajitra village. During the operation, the security forces discovered a discreetly concealed package from the residence of Mohd Shafi Sheikh, located in Sheikh Mohalla, Ward No. 1. The recovered package contained around 800 grams of a brown solid substance, suspected to be high-grade he**in.
Following the recovery, Kupwara Police initiated legal proceedings under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and a detailed investigation is underway to identify and dismantle the wider network involved in the smuggling attempt.
Officials hailed the operation as a prime example of excellent coordination and intelligence-sharing between the Army, Police, and BSF. They emphasized that such joint efforts reflect the unwavering commitment of security forces to curb narcotics trafficking and safeguard the youth from the menace of drug abuse.
Operation Hajitra stands as another testament to the vigilance and synergy of security agencies working tirelessly to maintain peace, law, and order in the border region of Tangdhar.
